That would be the primary purpose.  But I think he is more useful on the court than you are making him out to be.  He is a decent defender and shoots 3s at a high percentage and decent volume (which has been growing every season he has been in the league).  He is not that different from Max Christie (don't get me wrong, Max is the younger, better player).

And a connector as a passer which the new regime seems to value.

But yeah, Michaeltex, the primary value is moving off of Martin AND having another tradeable expiring deal at the TDL just in case.

Minnesota moved Green to Utah for Cody Williams and Konchar. They will stretch Konchar, which gives them enough space to do the remaining moves - sign Kuminga and add another min player. Moving expiring salary continues to be surprisingly easy this summer (Schroeder, Strus for example).

It is possible teams are extremely reluctant to include draft assets for salary dumping players.

Shows even the best miss. Utah got very little out of two recent top 10 picks in Hendricks (injury didn’t help) and Williams. Williams has looked like a big miss. We will see if another team changes his direction.

I recall when Whimore was drafted, was in the mocks at about 4 or so, but kept falling and falling and ended up at 20. Apparently something in the combine or workouts spooked teams. We all thought everyone messed up and HOU got a steal. Looking back, the ones doing the drafting got it right. Interesting.

That agent really is the worst.   Just right after signing, he is already talking about his next team.   Kuminga just needs to get away from the rumor mill and just play.    

It is not like he has not shown promise at times.  Ultimately, he deserves the most blame for it not working in GS.  Although, you need to also admit for a young, raw player it is hard to fill the role GS wanted filled and accept that role.  Maybe if he was a four year college player he could have adapted, gotten a lot of minutes and now be ready for a much bigger role with an aging team.    In Atlanta, I believe it was more positive than negative.  He just got caught in a numbers game with ATL and a lack of cap space this summer.   

He just needs to focus on making it hard for him to not be on the court.  Minny should be pretty good (like the other 3-6 teams in west they all have warts).   If he does that, his future will take care of itself.  This comment by his agent is pretty pathetic imo..especially after just signing with a new team.

This one makes even less sense than Kuminga, imho. Lakers have 16 players under contract already. Signing a FA would mean they would need to cut 2 players (unless there are takers for guys like Knecht, LaRavia, Bronny or Vando). Biggest Lakers need is a SF/PF starter type of player. Brown is 6-4 and while he plays bigger than his size, I am not convinced. They have Grimes, Carr, Thybulle and Williams at SG/SF position that should probably get more minutes than Brown. They also have a couple of meh SF/PF types already in Vando and LaRavia and with Thiero looking for developmental minutes. I don't think Brown is really better than those guys.
