Now is the perfect time to experiment with the youngsters.

I hope for

Luka/Burke (and Terry)
Green/THJ
Bey/Iwundu
Kleber/Powell
WCS/Johnson

If they put all the rookies with Powell/Johnson on the 2nd unit, they are so screwed.

I take 1 day off and 3 people get COVID.

Disaster.

That’ll teach you.

If you start Burke who is the backup PG? I think the starting lineup will be Luka/THJ/Iwundu/Maxi/WCS.

My official prediction is Luka/THJ/Green/Kleber/WCS

I think they’ll want Green playing with Luka, and i think we’ll see Iwundu handling the ball quite a bit when Luka is out, just like he did in the preseason.

If we're going to guess/speculate/wish-for a line-up, I'd pretend Hinton is Richardson, Green is DFS and Burke is Brunson. Then, business as usual.

After seeing Green kinda shit the bed against Denver, I doubt he's going to start over Iwundu.

You might be right. We'll see.

It kind of seems like you have trouble getting past the glaring fact that guy who Carlisle thinks is the best player at a position isn't always the guy he starts. His approach is much more sophisticated than that, thankfully. But having said that, there's no telling what he'll do in THIS crazy situation.

Could be totally wrong, but I don't see any way around playing Green in this game, so my thinking is that Carlisle will want him playing with Luka as much as possible. Definitely not meaning the prediction as a ranking of Green ahead of Iwundu, it's just what makes sense to me right now, synergy wise. Then again, I like @"omahen"'s thought that Iwundu is probably chomping at the bit to play against his old team. I DO think Iwundu will play more minutes than Green, regardless of who starts.

...Burke.

Not saying Burke will start, but it's definitely a possibility. So far this season, Luka has played the entire first quarter before coming out. PLENTY of time to start Burke, rest him and then bring him back to spell Luka at the top of the 2nd, if that's what Carlisle wants to do.

So you don't think/hope we'll see Iwundu at all?

That would shock me, I think. He has way, way more experience than the rookies.

No matter whether or not he starts, if there's one game where it would make sense to lean on Iwundu it would likely be against his former team.

I don't have trouble getting past that idea. It's just that I don't think we have the depth to justify that idea currently.

Especially now that we have essentially 3 starters and our 2nd string PG out.

Put it this way, the difference between Iwundu and Green is marginal at best in my eyes. They're both kinda bad. But one is a rookie, and does rookie things. The other thankfully isn't. From that alone I think Carlisle will go ahead with the more reliable choice.

Totally agree with the above, only I don't think he has the luxury of going either/or. I think BOTH will play significant minutes (more for Iwundu). From there, I just imagined the scenario in which Green is most likely to give the team anything productive.

But like I said, it's a crazy situation, so who knows?

The tweet circles the Covid cases, but my eyes are on KP potentially playing on Wednesday.

I want to see the rookies. I liked Hinson's energy in pre-season. He has the knack for getting the ball. He finds it, it finds him. Iwundu? With three guys out, I think RC will dig three deeper into the bench.

I'm a little grumpy at no Terry, Bey, or Hinton, but I like wins too.
