Kemba was fine until that knee injury last season in January. It seems he cannot recover from it. Awful luck. And that should be the final nail in the "doing business with Danny Ainge"-coffin. I bet the Mavs were the first team he called to try and dump that contract. Probably offered to take on DFS, Kleber and THJ out of the goodness of his heart.
Players are fools to play hurt for Ainge, cause there is no pot of gold at the end of that rainbow. At least Kemba got paid, Thomas was truly screwed. Probably lost 80M due to his decision to play hurt.

Really...

So this guy writes a 42 page dissertation on Luka vs Trae. These poor souls can't let it go. Author is anonymous but claims he is not a Hawks fan. Who would write such a thing and not be a Hawks or Traestan. I think his point is more that Trae is equal to Luka and the media hype is what carries Luka to almost be overrated in comparison. I disagree, but I only have to defend a 6'7" All NBA first teamer wonder boy. Consensus MVP pole position with betting odds. Consensus leader in who you would want to start your team with player.
I could have just linked to the article but wanted to show the Hawks fan responses.
Tyrell Terry equal to Trae comparisons should be written

Those Hawks fans act as if Luka has been playing with some sort of all-star team in Dallas.

As I've said many times, the simplest way to tell who is the better player is to note who people most compare their guy to. Even the biggest stans always look forward, not backward. For example, LeBron is compared against the all-time greats. Luka is already in the discussion around the league with superstars like LeBron. And Hawks fans are freaking obsessed with measuring Trae against Luka. The pecking order couldn't be more clear.
I like Trae. But his fans really need to let it go. I can see a situation where he's eventually a free agent and wants a fresh start with a fan base that likes him for who he is and is not constantly talking about who he is not. That has to get really tiresome.

It´s our secret skill.
All the guys that turn us down in free agency, turn to sh**. Unfortunately all the guys we do eventually sign, turn to sh**, too.
Maybe that´s why FAs ghost us. We have bad juju.
It´s the Mavs curse.
Though given that Kleber and Boban are doing alright, the curse is clearly domestic. It does not effect international FAs.

Something is off in Boston.

Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

If AD does the same, then Giannis is likely a no go to the Lakers. Probably can't get KL or PG either. (not that they would want PG)
Why now?
John Hollinger, senior NBA writer: Three reasons. First, James gets a raise for 2021-22 and 2022-23, because the eight percent raises on an extension are more than the recently updated projected salary cap increase. Second, James likely matches his contract term to that of Anthony Davis, whom most suspect will soon sign a three-year extension with an opt-out after the second year — when he's eligible for the 10-year veteran maximum of 35 percent of the cap. And finally, James can't sign for his max on anything longer: The over-38 Rule in the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement would take effect on a three-year extension.
What this means for the Lakers
Bill Oram, Lakers beat writer: James may well play beyond this contract extension and into his 40s, but this is him positioning himself to end his career with the Lakers. That is a tremendous amount of security for Rob Pelinka and the Lakers front office, and a far greater commitment than James gave either of his other teams over the past decade. There will be no year-after-year hand-wringing over what must be done to keep LeBron happy. This pact is an endorsement of what the Lakers have already done to make him content. He has a superstar teammate with whom he can play out the rest of his prime and they should be in position to chase several more championships.
How might this impact Davis?
Danny Leroux, salary cap analyst: The most fascinating part of James’ extension is that it lowers the possibility of the Lakers’ insanely ambitious best-case scenario in 2021: If both James and Davis became free agents next summer, one or both could have taken a pay cut to open up cap space for a new addition and thanks to full Bird rights, they only would have needed to sacrifice for one year before going back up to their maximum. Davis could still do that if he signs a one-season contract this time but James doing so is now off the table.

Can't speak for PG, but I wouldn't play for the Lakers at any level of compensation.

Trae is great, but I just can't take his numbers all that seriously when he is in the 4th quarter of a Houston game putting up stats where they are down 40 points

That jump from 6-9.5 three point attempts with a jump from 32% to 36% is VERY promising. Also the jump in FT% from 82-86% on 9.3 attempts would be nice on this team.

That bet depends on Wall's health, so we'll see how this plays out...

LMAO. That Washington GM must be a Wizard. Gets Westbrook for a guy with a torn Achilles and a questionable lifestyle, who hasn´t played basketball in two years. That Rockets GM seems to make decisions based on message boards he reads about Westbrook.
Westbrook/Beal alone puts you in the play-offs in the East.
Re-uniting Cousins/Wall haha. Wall can´t play off the ball and shoot either, if that´s your assessment of Westbrook.
How is that supposed to make the Rockets better. Love it.
