See, this is why the Ujiri move was a great one. I have no trouble believing this Schmitz guy is smart and a wizard at player evaluation/roster building. Frankly, you could've convinced me Riccardi was great at those things pretty easily, too. But, the energy of this interview is pretty boring, tbh. Neither he nor Riccardi have the larger than life aura that I feel is probably pretty helpful when negotiating contracts, attracting free agents, etc. Ujiri is great in a way this guy just isn't, but it doesn't matter because our team has both of them.

While I agree Masai's last few years in Toronto were not great.   I think it easy to say he waited too long to trade Siakam and OG.  That is fair.  Although there is a lot unsaid there that complicates things.    I thought those Toronto teams were better then they were.   Not a contender, but I liked the roster (even without guard play).  It didn't work.   Although, watching the last two postseasons, I wonder how they would look now if they kepts Siakam, OG and Barnes.   Could they all play together?  Would they be in a better spot now?   Could that be a good core if you added the parts around them?  Or had that ship sailed?
