Luka Dealt to Lakers: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist
Nico Harrison...
College: Military Academy and Montana State
Career: Successful schmoozing players and teams, internal management
Analysis: Low profile college career. Internal management is of little importance (that's for the CEO. Little to no deal making.

Rob Pelinka...
Member of the Fab Five, the most iconic college team ever.
Career: High powered agent including names like Kobe and KD, of which 80% of is deal making.
Analysis: Highest of the highest profiles. Ultimate deal maker, focused on always getting the best end of the deal

This was like the Dream Team v the Washington Generals. Rob was bouncing the ball off his head and throwing buckets of confetti in his face.

Nico has made me hate this team so much.

Ok I admit Luka looks skinny now and is starting to play like himself. I'm finally starting to feel a little sick.

I hear everyone talk about how skinny Luka looks. How is this a surprise? His weight has always fluctuated? Do we forget when Dirk came in way out of shape the strike year?

Y'all are falling for Nico's banana in our tailpipe. Luka's weight was NOT a reason; it was a JUSTIFICATION. The REASON is the Mavs cheap ownership wasn't going to to pay the supermax. PERIOD.

Nah. 6 games in 8 days. JJ is just managing the guys. There is nothing wrong with Luka like we were told. Sure, he has a light sprain but if this were a playoff game he would be on the court. Luka actually looks better than I've seen him in a couple of years now.

Nico is a lying snake.
Find me at Lakersball.com. I'm done with the Nico and the Mavs.

I agree with this narrative EXCEPT the part about Kidd -- according to everyone, he had nothing to do with Luka being traded. He was not consulted, did not request it, and didn't have any sayso in whether or not it happened.

As for what he would have said, if consulted in advance, it's hard to know. There's no benefit (and huge downside) for him to blast his own FO while he works here. He's basically declined to offer any opinion and kept his head down and tended to the job of continuing to coach. When asked, he deflects by saying, 'I'm the coach, I just work at who they give me.'

Given what people have said about the way the trade went down, it was all Nico, given free reign by Dumont. Nico didn't tell Kidd either.

He’s already balling out for the Lakers. As expected. Just a BRILLIANT player who is also loyal to the core. I hope he has a long and successful career with the Lakers. Luka deserves it, just an awesome player to follow.

There is no coming back from this for the Mavericks. The trade was organizational malpractice at its worst and showed a serious lack of class and empathy.

Btw:

There is footage of Anthony Davis playing golf while he’s smoking.

This trade has been so absurdly bad it’s just nightmarish. I have already canceled my league pass subscription but there is zero interest left for the organization. It’s just broken.  Basketball & following the Mavs USED to be a ton of fun but it’s all destroyed now.

I guess everything has to come to an end.

Reading stuff like this makes it worse. Luka’s just a loyal dude who is also insanely brilliant at basketball. He’s not even too proud to admit that they’ve
dumped him against his will..

These two evil dorks have have pissed away something great here. What a fucking mess. It’s still making my blood boil every time I think about it.

edited closing sentence for language - the original intent was that the poster is displeased with Nico Harrison and Dumont.

I think Luka's maturity in all this should be praised more
Thought for sure some negative Mavs info would have leaked out from Luka's camp by now but crickets.

To me this reflects on how he's had a stable relationship since his early teens. Durant is in his late 30s and still can't do that

That’s the winning mentality and professionalism that Luka was always lacking - thanks Nico!

I feel like the zeitgeist on this has changed somewhat since McMahon's book came out. I haven't read it, but the DLLS guys were sure lumping Kidd in on this stuff in their podcast about the book.

He was smoking a cigar. Like Naji a couple of weeks ago.

But apparently its only a problem when Luka does it.

Oh, okay. I hear Luka smokes hookah, too. I don't know how true that is. I guess that led to his new nickname, Hookah Doncic. I don't see how any athlete could perform efficiently smoking anything. I know in the MLB and NFL, players used to smoke cigarettes all the time back in the day.

Naji is the type that will find you if you say something negative about him.  That's probably why.

Well Naji is welcome to come and find me. I think I can probably out run him given he enjoys smoking cigars.
