Timberwolves Sale Falls Through! Drama w/Glen+ARod!
#2
So to recap, Glen Taylor has been in the process of selling the Wolves to Rodriguez and his group for the last 3 years. Why 3 years? Well A-Rod and his group needed time to come up with the funds and Taylor wanted to stay on to be an aide through the process.

This morning, Taylor announces that the sale has fallen through:

@wojespn
Glen Taylor says the Timberwolves are no longer for sale.

@wojespn
Taylor says the window for Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez to purchase the majority share of the Timberwolves/Lynx expired on March 27 -- and "the buyer could have been entitled to a limited extension...However those circumstances did not occur." Dramatic turn in Minnesota.

Well now A-Rod and his side have come out with their own statement saying that they HAVE funded everything and completed their obligations, but Taylor is the one trying to kill the deal:

Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania)
"We are disappointed with Glen Taylor's public statement today. We have fulfilled our obligations, have necessary funding and are fully committed to closing our purchase of the team as soon as the NBA completes its approval process. Glen Taylor's statement is an unfortunate case of seller's remorse that is short sighted [sic] and disruptive to the team and the fans during a historic winning season."

Taylor has come out now with more statements like this:

Jon Krawczynski (@JonKrawczynski)
Glen Taylor tells @TheAthletic that he does not plan on putting it back on the market: "I just think built this team. We've got the players now. And it appears to me that we should have a very positive run for a number of years, and I want to be a part of that."

Jon Krawczynski (@JonKrawczynski)
Glen Taylor to @TheAthletic: "We're just saying we had a contract with you guys, you've had your time and this is the end of the contract and we're just kind of go on running the way we've been run."

Overall, this is messy. On the one hand, Taylor sold for $1.5 Billion. A lot at the time, but compared to other NBA franchises have sold for since, Taylor lost a lot of money there. He's pretty adamant that A-Rod and his group have not funded the deal and he's retaining his ownership. The other side are saying Taylor finally has a winning team and he doesn't want to sell for the price they originally agreed on. Pretty unprecedented and I figured it deserved it's own thread.
