Two impressions from these Olympics:
1) The world has an incredible number of good basketball players compared to the past. Eventually, like within the lifetime of most on this board, maybe even by the 2028 games, the NBA will lose its recognition as the world’s only tier one league. This is, in fact, inevitable.
2) The international game/rules produces a more visually pleasing, team oriented style of play. The NBA should look for opportunities to align, including shortening the game to 40 minutes and eliminating the defensive three second rule. FIBA should compromise too by moving back its three point shot to NBA range. I’m not sure how to standardize the lane. My gut tells me the international lane is more conducive to passing and should be the choice though.
