For me the 2nd round pick is bothersome because it is still a talent chip that is being given away. Be it those chips are used to draft or for trades for more long term solutions . The same thing applies to first round picks too. They hit on a very high pick but in general their approach to drafts seem like they look at it as not really going to give them much.
We can talk all about the Kliebers and DFS of this world but when we flame out the excuse as usual will be what did you expect RC to do with undrafted talent and that it is Donnie’s fault. Next year again when criticizing picks we will be told how the draft is a crapshoot and the Mavs have developed some undrafted talent. Seems to be the same story over and over again.
Yes. Maybe the draft is a crapshoot. But teams do value picks which is why they usually don’t give those up to get older players who are at best a stop gap solution.
