Mavs Rookies G-League Watch: Green, Terry, Bey & Hinton

When you are a 6'1 twig with little to no skills, there is a problem. Becoming a great ball handler is very hard to develop into. Listening to JJ Redick's podcast, he said he could do all the dribbling drills in the world and it still won't make him a better ball handler. It's one of those things you have or you don't, especially at that position.

IMO, Tyrell's best chance to crack an NBA rotation is to be a 3PT specialist, which is extremely hard to do at the PG position; Seth might be the only one. Usually your 3PT guys are bigger like Redick, Korver, McBuckets, Harris, etc. And the theory Tyrell could be that guy is not a sure thing, he only played 1 college season, and although 40% is nice, it is nothing special given the sample size.

This is what kills the Mavs every draft. They see a player that reminds them of a Maverick and jump the gun. When the Mavs said Shane Larkin reminded them of Barea, I knew right then and there he was a bust. Same with Tyrell, the immediate Seth comp remains worrisome.
