Sivan and Patrick Dumont purchased Miriam Adelson's shares of the Dallas Mavericks last month, making the Dumont family the controlling owners of the franchise with a 69% share. Adelson has had minimal involvement with the Mavericks since she bought the majority share of the franchise from Mark Cuban in December 2023 along with her daughter and son-in-law. Patrick Dumont has served as the Mavericks' governor since the family took control of the franchise. "It's really about long-term investment in the city of Dallas," Dumont told ESPN on Tuesday. "The Dumont family is really committed to building what we hope is the best arena in the NBA, a really significant investment in the city that will help create the new 40-year home for the Dallas Mavericks, a great experience for our fans, and inspire our team to win championships. That's really what we're focused on. We had the opportunity, and we're really excited about it." Cuban, who has expressed regret about selling the Mavericks to Adelson and the Dumonts due to being frozen out of the franchise's basketball and business operations, maintains a 27% share of the franchise. According to the terms of the 2023 sale, Dumont can purchase another 20% share from Cuban at the original $3.5 billion valuation. "We plan to look at that and to do that over time," Dumont said. "I just have to tell you: I love Mark. He's been a great family friend for a really long time. He's just a super passionate Mavs fan, and he's frustrated. I respect it. We're going to hopefully do him proud. That's my goal -- to make all of our Mavs fans super proud about the success of the team and win a championship."
