...but, as accomplished as Westbrook is, I can't in good conscience put him over Iverson, who's an example of a player who actually changed the game. NBA officiating changed to slow him down, which has only happened for maybe 5-6 players ever, and if he were still playing today with the European ball-handling standards, with the gather step and all the rest, he'd be even better.
I think Iverson's ability to average 30+ in the early slow paced 2000s is a greater feat than averaging a triple double in 2020. Stats are so inflated now.
Like Iverson scored or assisted on 43% of the entire's teams points for an entire season, and went up to 49% of the entire teams offense in the playoffs en route to the finals.
Russ has similar counting stats, but Iverson did his damage through pure hooping skill. Gotta take Iverson here.
But it's closer than I would have expected going back and looking through it.
