Who knows, maybe it could generate some genuine good will toward the FO from other players out there. But in the meantime, this is a business, this is an asset-starved and talent-starved franchise at the moment, and we need either what Klay can bring to the court, or the benefit he can bring back in trade, more than we need that good will. I would rather they hang on to him, play him when it makes sense, and have him mentor the young guys than giving Lebron, Steph, or whoever out there the satisfaction of getting him for nothing. If there's a buyout, it's horse puckey if it's anytime prior to the TDL, tbh.
I could be wrong, but I just don't think this version of Klay Thompson, given his age and salary number, hold a ton of value. If he wants to be here, great. If he wants to go somewhere else, I wouldn't mind helping him getting there. If we can get an asset back from that, great. If we can't, I'm fine with the good will.
