Michael Scotto: The Orlando Magic has waived Jonathan Isaac, league sources told @hoopshype. The former sixth overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft averaged 6.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in seven seasons with the Magic. Jonathan Isaac was guaranteed $8 million of his $14.5 million salary for the 2026-27 season. The following two seasons on his deal were non-guaranteed. The 28-year-old, 6-foot-10 forward now becomes an unrestricted free agent. With the move, the Magic give themselves some financial flexibility by creating more space below the second apron and lowering their projected luxury payment from roughly $16.5 million down to around $10 million for the upcoming season. The franchise is expected to pay luxury tax for the first time in over a decade. While Isaac could still re-sign with Orlando, he will also be allowed to negotiate with all other clubs as a free agent starting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Teams may begin signing free agents to contracts at 12:01 p.m. on July 6.
