Trade & Free Agency 2026/2027

Lu Dort, Oklahoma City (TO): $17,705,328 It seems unlikely that the Thunder can continue with Dort next season. They have multiple players at his position who are both better and younger, the team is set to be $40 million over the projected luxury tax line and Dort is coming off an off-year in which he was ineffective in the Western Conference finals. The Thunder’s most likely pathway out would be to trade him for a second-round pick or two and generate a $17 million trade exception.

Maybe should have played them then?   Dort´s value is being undersized and be allowed to relentlessly foul the other teams stars. Spurs have nobody that fits the mold. The NBA won´t allow him to injury fragile Wembanyama with his physical antics and SG to PF, the spots where Dort usually fouls operates is a wasteland on the Spurs. So maybe OKC figures Dort has no use against their projected main rival  San Antonio and therefore chose Hartenstein over Dort. I mean not much use in a Dort that can´t shoot and can´t get away with fouling.
