Jason Kidd OUT! Who will be the Mavs' next HC?

But there is one part that I don't like about Kidd at all. It's the way he jockeyed to try to get the GM job (or some other better job). I think he's a high quality COACH, but his blazing and unending desire to sit in the big chair (rather than keep his focus on his job) is something I don't think will be missed. Did his ambition keep splitting his loyalties between THIS job, and the next step upward he could imagine? Was his allegiance to the welfare of the team (indeed, he should have advised Nico to step away from the Luka trade, but I wonder if Kidd saw it as career suicide for Nico that would then open up the GM for him to grab)? If you aren't sure, you don't want to have to deal with that.

EDITED TO ADD - I just saw the report that Kidd was the one who wanted the divorce. Maybe he saw there's no place to go in Dallas (with both Ujiri and Schmitz now in place, and experts at what they do) except do your job as coach, and he didn't want to be in a situation like that.

As an aside, I would think this means Dumont is NOT paying him a $40M contract buyout after all.
