Cowlishaw on Cuban's recent rants. Right on target on Cuban and his weird agenda. He doesn't quite buy the legitimacy of the shots at Kidd, and saw Kidd's role (at most) as a powerless bystander who had no control to change anything. Also says Cuban wants to lay blame but he (Cuban) is the one ultimately responsible, since he put power all the decision-makers whose decisions he's trying to deride now. Yep.
On Tuesday Hoop Collective, McMahon also called out Cuban in much the same manner, with the weird rants and shots, and thinks it's from having no power (as we have already surmised). Interesting aside on a revelation from that podcast - while McMahon has regularly said from a year ago that he is certain Kidd was involved in the Luka trade and that he has proof and that he has been told and that he has direct knowledge and on and on, this time he essentially confessed that he actually has no actual proof, but that's just been his assumption (even though he's always previously painted it as something he had direct knowledge of).
Kidd having relationships with the Lakers and AD is probably where everyone is drawing the conclusions from.
I read or listened to a theory that this was Cuban trying to prop Finley up as the next GM and he'd use Finley as his torjan horse back into the organization. That would be a weird strategy on Cuban's part considering the bridges he is burning, but Cuban acting like a petulant child is on brand for him.
In my view, Finley would be as awful choice as the organization could make. Let us be rid of him and our lasting memory of him be snatching a beer from Luka's hand which parallels nicely with the organization snatching our generational superstar from our hands.
I also never wanted Kidd in the first place. I have a simple "men shouldn't hit women" policy which makes him impossible to support. His media tantrums don't help his case either. I'll be the first one celebrating when he is finally removed from our organization.
At this point, I just wish they'd clean house and remove all shadows of doubt to any ties to the trade. I bet most of the the fanbase that has been hesitant to dive back in would lose those reservations. #TeamPresti #PlanBGould
