I really don't have an issue with what Washington did. That could change if they overpay in extensions for either though.
Washington hasn't been an NBA caliber team in a long time. They finally have a semblance of a plan. They have 3-4 young players who have a chance to be players on a good team. I don't believe any of them are a star though. Maybe they find a star in the draft this year. Young and Davis at least give them players who should help. In various degrees and health will be a factor. If this can help push their youngsters forward and let them play in meaningful games and not glorified practice runs each night, that is a positive imo.
If it doesn't work out, that is fine. Eventually they move on. The only negative is if they give both bigger than expected extensions and it clogs up their cap when their youngsters come up for extensions.
