Think about it: teams are asking for 1sts for taking on one season of a bad contract. Poertl has FOUR. I honestly don't think there is a palatable number of picks for taking on the single worst contract in the league. I mean, if Toronto offered three 1sts and swaps to just flat out eat it so that they could financially breathe, then okay. But I seriously doubt they do that.
The Mavs finally have massive financial freedom and you want to go on TILT and give it away for the 22nd pick. Please don't.
It´s all part of the negotiation. Maybe they can get the 2026 1st (which is 19th right now, not 22nd), a future Raptors 1st (they have all of them), plus the Martin relief, which is 50% of Poeltl for two years. You can´t let this massive trade exception go to waste. That´s for sure.
This draft is supposed to be generational and a 19th pick can be very good. I love Stirtz as much as I hated Knueppel. Now imagine how good Stirtz must be, if I think Knueppel is sh*t.
