Mavs send Martin, Hardy, and Russell to WAS, along with all the cash they can include, along with a tip.
Mavs receive 1 min salary player (or any other, incl multi-year, with a salary less than 4.4M) to help WAS clear out roster room to do the deal. (Right now they have 14 players.)
WAS does have the ability to do that deal, and while they are at about the cap in payroll this season, they are about $30M below the tax line.
What tip would it take to get WAS to say yes?
That´s 22M in salary that Washington just takes in. That is worth at least a 1st round pick to me. Why should Washington accept anything less, especially for two players (Martin/DAR) that have zero developmental worth to them? Cap space is like gold under these new rules.
The real question is why would the Mavs want to do this? They are YEARS away from contending and need all the picks they can get/keep.
Mavs need to open new avenues to add young talent to build around Flagg or he´s in Boston in four years, not dump short minor contracts that are barely a nuisance, for more future capital.
