Yep, for me that's the hinge to getting the deal the Mavs would need if they send AD to ATL. Give in on Trae (with no delusions of him having secret value or being a sly fit) but do it ONLY at a price that compensates DAL fully for the value ATL would get.
Trae-Risacher- NO1-another FRP (with limited protection at first, but DAL eventually gets a FRP no matter what)

AD-Martin
Why? Both sides get the primary benefits they really want, plus a bit more.
-- ATL gets out of Trae contract, loses no real [proven/desired] talent only picks, their front line becomes VERY versatile and formidable (AD, KP, Okongwu), does NOT pay tax.
-- DAL gets picks, gets minor salary reduction now, retains room for Nemby, better cap future even though eating the salary for Trae.
One important note: Even though the Mavs would be choking down Trae's 50M deal for a year, they would still be in better position capwise in 2026. Right now they are staring at about 5-6M over A2 in 2026 (assuming no moves and DAR opts in). After this trade they would be ~3M under A2 in 2026 (assuming no moves and DAR opts in).
ATL would still be in good shape capwise, since KP is retained so he comes off their cap in 2026.
