The whole "this draft is generational" can be a bit overblown. I've read the same in 2008. 2010, 2012, 2014, 2025 among others. And frankly some drafts that was considered awful was actually the great one (2009 & 2011 were widely regarded as bad drafts)
And even if it is, there is a Sam Bowie,Darko & Thabeet in the greatest of drafts (1996 is probably the only one that the top 7 were good). NO pick is a big asset but it isn't the untouchable one folks making it.
AD brings Hawks into true contender in the playoffs, there should be no deal without inclusion of the pick or pick swap. They don't have any other interesting piece for the Mavs to trade for.
It depends on how much Atlanta wants him, AD isn't a neutral or negative asset, the NO makes their deal likely the best one among other Eastern Conference buyers, without it they are likely offering the worst package
