Agree. 2026 draft is supposed to be generational and it looks like NO (Atlanta) will have a top5 pick. Would AD really put Atlanta in the true contender status which would make it worth to give up such a pick? Especially since they would need to give up at least one key rotation player for him. Giannis is still on a whole different level than AD, imho, and he would perhaps make sense to give up the pick. Atlanta is currently 9th in the East, although 3rd place is still very reachable.
Atlanta has a trully gifted and young core in Daniels (combo guard), Johnson (PF), Risacher (SG-SF) and Okongwu (PF-C). They need a good center and PG. Even if both Trae and KP are gone in the summer, the pick and max cap space with all the other assets would enable to cover both positions and build a basis for a long term contender. The smart play for them would be to keep the pick. If they can add a guy without giving up the pick, great. If not, I think they would rather wait.
