Although the cost is significantly higher for Giannis. For AD they keep the New Orleans pick and Jalen Johnson and can be positioned to win now and also have a bright young nucleus. The only question I have is with the new CBA, they will have some huge salaries. Not sure if that is sustainable.
I honestly believe, if Atlanta makes a move they want to trade Trae Young not Porzingis/Risacher. Johnson has played out of his mind without Young and AD fits perfectly into their defensive identity.
Johnson
Daniels
NAW
AD
Porzingis
Okungwu, Kennard, Risacher
I also think you can spin my trade idea further. Send Morant to Minnesota for Reid (ugh), Conley, Beringer and their 2026 first. Trade Gafford to Boston for Simons and their 1st.
You´d suddenly sit on (as it stands)
#9 pick
#13 pick
#16 pick
#19 pick
#22 pick
#23 pick
in a generational draft.
If I just throw darts at the last ten drafts and pick every player in these exact positions I end up with
Devin Booker
Donovan Mitchell
Alperen Sengun
John Collins
Jarrett Allen
OG Anunoby
Tyler Herro
Deni Avdija
Jalen Duren
Isaiah Stewart
-----------------
Rui Hachimura
Saddiq Bey
Malik Beasley
Taurean Prince
Terry Rozier
Bobby Portis
Jakob Poetl
Jeremy Sochan
Walker Kessler
Jake LaRavia
Keyonte George
Gradey Dick
Derrick Queen
Zach Edey
Jared McCain
..and there is the wild 2018 draft, where around the six Mavs picks (Knox, Jerome Robinson, Z. Smith, Huerter, Hutchison, A. Holiday) you missed on Mikael and Miles Bridges, SGA, MPJ, DiVincenzo and even Simons and Mo Wagner.
If you get six cracks at this and this draft is as good as advertised, just staying put should get you one All-Star talent to pair with Flagg. If you get lucky and draft well, you build the whole Thunder dynasty in one draft at the cost of AD/Gafford. Have not even traded Klay yet.
