That's understandable. After "rooting" so long for an underdog, as the Mavs have typically been, it seems out of character to be a fan of a team with 17 NBA championships. Yet, the current configuration of the squad in LA has some intriguing personalities: 1. Luka, a Euro superstar who, like Dirk, wanted to spend his entire career in Dallas, loving the city and the fans, but who was unceremoniously traded in the middle of the night by a shoe salesman and the son-in-law of a billionairess and has been consistently bad-mouthed once out the door. 2. Doria Finney Smith, another former Mav with a close relationship with Luka, a player who, starting or coming off the bench, is simply a winner. 3. Austin Reeves, a self-deprecating country boy from Arkansas, who played college ball at Oklahoma. Austin doesn't look like a ballplayer until you watch him effortlessly weave his way down court to
finish at the rim. 4. Rui Hachimura, a player who, after achieving in Asia, played for Gonzaga. I'm still learning about Rui, but understand he has a Japanese mother and a West African father from Benin. 5. Lebron James. . .I don't know much about this player, but he seems to be an incredible teammate of Luka's. 6. J.J. Redick, a rookie coach who seems to have a good feel for the game.
