Luka Dealt to Lakers: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist

All the conspiracy theories about what's going on with the Mavs are based on the premise that Nico can't be that stupid. But when I look at his decisions made before and after Lindsey being here (a too-brief interlude in which the roster-building moves were very smart) and it's all mediocre-to-awful.

I end up thinking this is just a Hanlon's Razor situation, which says:
"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.”

Yep, Nico is that stupid. And he needs to go asap.

That's a really good point. It reminds me of another I heard recently. 

"Some people are smart enough to think they are right but not smart enough to know they are wrong."

It could honestly just be that simple. No conspiracy or anything. He's good at relationships but bad at being a GM. It's just time to go get a Lindsay or Presti type.

Looking at the overall situation of the trades of Luka and Grimes followed by the mishandling of PR every step of the way since tells me that Nico just is bad at his job. Really bad. I had previously falsely applied things being done (trade for PJ and Gaff) to Nico. That was obviously wrong. As soon as Lindsay left the most ridiculous things started happening in quick succession.

If a trade is so bad and impossible to imagine that reporters have to put out a disclaimer that they weren't hacked it's probably a historically stupid deal.

They still have a chance to have a really good team for the next 2-4 years. But, the fix needs to start right now. Hire a new training staff. Go get the 2nd best because you fired the best. Go get a new GM that is in the Presti/Lindsay mold. Lose as many games as you can the rest of the year and scout the heck out of the upcoming draft.
