This is in now way justification or acceptance of the trade, I will never get there.
Although, I found it interesting as I am finally able to catch up on podcasts that Marc Stein on the DLLS podcast right after said he had teams reaching out to him saying the Mavs were working on something big and were asking if he knew what it was. Heck, even Utah got involved and they didn't know. I just find it fascinating how teams try to gather information.
