A future teller. The Mavs could fire Nico in the offseason. Recoup assets with AD. They could win the lottery this year and get Flagg. There’s a million different what ifs. Why concern yourself with “what if” in 2028-2030 right now.

Lots could happen, I agree. I’m really pulling for a lottery win this year. That solves the problem. They’ll have a player to build around. Most likely, they’re just going to get old fast, at least their core. I remember Herb Williams and Adrian Dantley and the destruction of the original team because they traded young for old. The Mavs gave up control of those picks thinking they’d have Luka. Now they don’t and those moves make no sense anymore.
