I am a card carrying Hardy member. I don't think he has been good to start the season. Difficult for him though. Like a lot of scorers, he is a rhythm player and it is tough to get into a groove when there minutes are not there. Regardless, when you do get chances, you need to hit the mark. He hasn't. I think he is best used as a spark to get buckets. That role is just not really that important to the current team though....especially when we are healthy.
I am thinking for the first time, that he really doesn't have a role here long term. Although maybe with an injury he gets an extended run and makes it impossible not to be in the rotation. Or he beats out Dinwiddie. That is going to be difficult. He will get some chances though. We will see. I think it is probably more important that Omax turns into a rotation player than Hardy for this team. Omax is another issue....he needs a lot of work and playing time (the playing time is going to be hard to get).
I firmly believe 6 million for Hardy is a good deal. He does play a role that isn't greatly valued in the NBA, unless you are really good. I we were to move Hardy, I think him, our first round pick (when we can trade) and an expiring Maxi this offseason could be attractive to teams for a certain player.
