Well, I'm only illustrating the POV, not overtly declaring it as my own (although things like this do cross my mind about him).
What I'm saying is that of the two players, Grant Williams and Luka, you'd think the guy around whom the team is built wouldn't need Williams to tell him that. I think ideally it would come the other way around, and it kind of sounds from Finley like Luka trained hard "at" or "to" Williams, and that the goal (accomplished) was to make him look foolish...for trying to get the team's star to lead by example.
Then again, I can certainly see your POV above, and as I said, Williams is a clown, and the motivation might have been inappropriately clownish. As in, maybe he just deserved what he got.
