What that proves to me is that the league is filled with guys that cannot evaluate talent worth a damn but eventually these guys who are really good will find a way to win and get into playing in the NBA.
It's also possible that it's a crapshoot, and that experts who spend thousands of hours researching and evaluating can't really project with any certainty whatsoever whether Player X will actually be an NBA player, or will be any better than Player Y.
So, rather than pillory front offices for "missing" on "obvious" picks, we should cut them a little slack and realize there's a pretty high degree of randomness in the whole process.
...and perhaps we should be a little slower to declare a GM as "genius" because he happens to hit on two picks in a row.
When you go to Vegas, do you stop and congratulate the slot machine winners because of their superior skill?
