I’m surprised the Jazz didn’t want a late first. I guess it shows the importance of cap space. The move lowers this years cap by $5 million and they don’t add anything meaningful to next year. I doubt any of the tax paying contenders were willing to go anything less than even salary in a swap.
Utah was needing to cut players and eat dead money. They were right up against the line and are hard capped after the Sexton deal. So increased flexibility, but for what?
