Man, I could be wrong, but I think that's kind of known around the league as part of the deal going in.

He played 52/72 this year even thought it seemed like he missed half the season.

Kawhi Leonard and KillerLeft have never been seen in the same room together. Coincidence?

If you just take off Killer’s glasses…

This is a super interesting development. It means most likely Kawhi is looking at a post all-star break return from his injury.

I don't really care about it too. Even if the Klaw takes a step back from his injuries he'd still be a lethal 2nd option behind Luka. Exactly what the Mavs would be looking for.

Wouldn't be surprised if he is out for the season. Partial tear is basically the same as full tear. You can't really patch it together. Gotta take out tendons from the knee or harmstring, and reconstruct the full ACL with it.

Soccer players coming back in 6 months, but NBA players usually taking way longer, tho anywhere from 6-12 months. Playoffs start in 9 months, doubt he comes back just for the playoffs.

Seems like a 3 way trade is the most likely scenario

Good piece on Clippers options. Its an interesting dillema. Team is not young, no cap space and no picks. Do you wait a year (who knows if this team can get back to competitive status) or rebuild?

Option C might be to help Kawhi find a new home with a team who can afford to wait on his rehab while getting younger players back in the deal to complement PG. Win as many games as you can now while building continuity for the future.

It's a tricky situation, for sure.

If it takes Kawhi an entire year to recover, the Clips could be in serious trouble.

I'm sure if they retain everyone, they might have just enough talent to snag a lower seed, 6-8. But does it really matter if Kawhi isn't even going to be available for the playoffs? It's not like they have any picks to tank for.

Tricky situation indeed.

Then change the headline to Kings "highly unlikely" to get Ben Simmons.

They'd be fine, judging on this year's playoffs, if they weren't essentially guaranteed to lose Jackson and Tatum.

Exactly. I don't know how much Jackson is going to get on the open market, but if a team like the Bulls throws a 4/72 at him do the Clips match?? I can see them pivoting to Schroeder if they lose Jackson but that'd be a downgrade imo.

Batum is looking to get the MLE from someone. Hard to imagine him staying as well. They do have Ibaka, but his better days are behind him.

If the Clips do pay everyone, and I'm not ruling this out because Ballmer has enough money to buy every team in the league and have about 80 billion left over, what do the Clips look like in 2 years? Jackson will be 32. Ibaka 33. Batum 35. Kawhi coming off an ACL tear and could never be the same. George has had his own health problems with his shoulder.

Just seems like there is a high chance that they take a step back just because of age and injury concerns naturally.

I don't think the Clips can match.  They don't have full bird rights on Jackson or Batum.  They might be able to retain one of them with the MLE.

Pretty sure there is a limited cash that they are able to throw at Reggie, Ballmer pocket doesn't matter. Clippers don't have bird rights.

They can offer him 10 mill / year. Thats it. Mid level money.

Kawhi scares me just as much as KP, if not more. I´d actually be more comfortable with a 1+1 or 2+1 then a full four years. Obviously Kawhi is on a whole different level to Porzingis, but at least you get to tell Porzingis when to play and when to rest. Kawhi basically tells you, when he feels like playing.
