2020-2021 AROUND the NBA: Archived
At least we saw how a real unicorn looks. Embiid is a monster. 40/13. Face up and drives against bigs. Post ups against smaller guys. Pick and roll/pop. Catch and shoot. The complete package. Comparing him to see the Mavs bigs the biggest difference is his patience when he gets deep a deep position or the Hawks double. Keeps the ball high and out of reach for the defender. Reads the defender. Makes a move. More often than not he draws a foul when the defender reaches in or leaves his feet.

Clippers started small. Found their best lineup. Will be interesting to see if the Jazz can force them to go big. Zubac is playing with the bench unit. Against Favors.

Smart, I bet. No chance of beating Gobert at his own game. Gotta try and run him into the dirt.

I despise the Clitts, but they sure make us look better if they get to WCFs or the Finals.

Utah Jazz. 7/35 FG. 6/23 from 3. Only one FGA for the bigs (Gobert 0/1).

Ingles 2/8
Mitchell 2/8
Clarkson 3/10

They aren´t even trying to run plays. Screen. Three. Next possession. Screen. Three. Really missing Conley. Mitchell is not a PG.

I would argue LAC was the BEST team in the league this year. They had the 2nd best net rating while resting their two superstars 20 games each. BRK is their only legit competition in my mind. But anything can happen.

Yeah, it really feels like BRK vs LAC in the Finals...MAYBE the Suns.

And all this at far less than 100% health.

He even tears his meniscus like our own unicorn!

Gobert out. Here comes Favors. Rim protection, rebounding and hard screens for 48 minutes.

Meniscus injuries unleash the full potential. KP dropped 34/13 in his last game of the 2020 series against the Clippers.

Haven't been able to watch tonight, but the box score makes it seem like Zubac has gotten the best of Favors tonight. Is that what you've observed?

Playing different roles. Jazz bigs are defense and rebounding only. No role on offense. Can be happy if they get some garbage points on the offensive board. All three bigs (Zubac, Gobert, Favors) are playing really good defense in the paint and it turned the game into a shooting contest from the perimeter.
No easy layups or dunks on either side. I think I just noticed the difference compared to the Mavs defenders and focused on the Jazz. Jazz build a wall in the paint and they don´t have to play zone to do it.

Even Cousins had a short cameo. Wasn´t bad but he cannot defend without fouling.

Looks like Utah will take game 1. Kawhi is the worst +/- on the team. Interesting.

Jazz offense would drive this community over the edge. 50 3PA. Mitchell and Clarkson combined for 29 3PA. Entire scheme is based on 4 guys that chuck away from 3. With Gobert/Favors in the middle. Fighting for offensive boads and creating extra possessions.
Clippers lead in all efficiency categories. FG%, 3P%, FT%. But in the end 3-point volume combined with extra possessions was enough for the Jazz.

Snyder runs a real offensive system and the Jazz have too many legit shooters that the Clippers have to respect. Donovan Mitchell broke down the defense and got into the paint consistently because the Clips were uncertain on leaving Bojan/Ingles/Clarkson/etc. We know Mitchell and Conley can create plays but also Ingles averaged 4 assists so he knows how to keep the ball moving.

He's in recovery this game, after performing surgery on the Mavs.

Kawhi, after maybe one of the greatest playoff performances ever, regresses to the mean and looks very pedestrian.

Craziness. The NBA should change the values of the 2pt and 3pt shots.
