Carlisle doesn't strike me as a guy who helps his former employers out, especially with how he left here.
In fact I'd believe RC would go out of his way to try and bleed Dallas dry in any deal. Not only because thats what other teams should try and do when making a trade, but also because I'm sure he wants to enact any kind of vengeance for any perceived slights Cubes might've done to garner the ire of RC over the years.

I'm with you and Branduil. I don't want to wait on anyone. I want two Woj Bombs saying we got the two players we targeted within minutes of the opening of free agency. In that case, a Jackson/Holmes offseason where we can’t keep THJ/JRich is an upgrade in general for the team which IMO puts them in HCA territory. If we can fill in with cheap and good players, that bandaids THJ being out.
Luka/JB/TT
RJack/rMLE or BAE/Green
DFS/rMLE or BAE (OPJ or Batum?)/Bey
KP/Maxi/Powell
Holmes/WCS/Boban
If we can get OPJ or Batum behind DFS on a rMLE or BAE type deal that would be Nico proving his worth.
I think a nice upgraded offseason would be getting 3-5 of the following players with minimal outgoing from the current squad (not in order):
OPJ
Batum
PJ Tucker
RJack
Korkmaz
Holmes
Caruso
THT
McConnell
Theis
Portis
Snell
Graham
JaMychal

So we hear that the Sixers are actively taking offers on Simmons just a day after Cuban was photographed at Villanova. And the obviously Philly-based source wants us to know that they're holding out for an All-Star.

Don't think KP was ever an All-Star, but we'll throw in the corpse of Chris Gatling if they want.

Am I wrong? It's kind of a binary thing.
Edit: I *am* wrong. He was named an Eastern Conference reserve in 2018, but then the ACL happened.
In any event, at this point in his career, I think it's absolutely apropos to compare that to Chris Gatling.

If they think he is a type of player you don't trade Harden for, THJ is nothing close to what they would want (for Brogdon). If he's a playoff dud, THJ might be enough (for Brodgon). If they think he's somewhere in between, we still need more than THJ (for Brogdon). Also, if they are wanting the best player in the trade, THJ isn't the piece outgoing (for Brogdon). Finally, THJ has to agree to signing with Ind.

Still waiting on Fish's article (unless I missed it) on how the Mavs are going to land Lillard and Kawhi this offseason.
Lillard and Kawhi to Mavs
Hayward, McCollum and Nurkic to Clips
KP, Kleber, Morris and Kennard to Hornets
Opted in JRich, Brunson, Zubac, Mann, Bridges, McDaniels, Terry and picks from Hornets and Mavs to Blazers
There it's done

I don't know, MC did let him off his contract so he could freely go to any team. I don't think he'd be a hindrance, but I also don't think he'd try to help us out either. IND is now his team.

Luka
rMLE ring chaser
Kawhi

Simmons
Let the ring chasers flock to that lineup!

Boy are the Sixers dumb not to jump on that deal. Anyway, it sounds like Brogdon is available, so the Mavs really need to see if there's a way for us to trade for him.
Brogdon would make the 76ers IMMEDIATE title favorites IMO. I love Simmons, but Brog's fit is SOO much better in PHI.

I would personally throw the whole kitchen sink in toward acquiring Ben Simmons. I think he and Luka are an ELITE pairing that you could build around in a billion different ways.

Right there with you in terms of his overall talent and value. He's easily the most available superstar-talent type right now, and this could be a golden opportunity.
For him to be an elite fit with Luka, he'd need to have his head right with the idea that his career will transition away from a primary ball-handler role. Is he willing to set screens, rather than use them? Does HE believe it's time for him to defer to someone like Luka and figure out ways to make himself useful by playing off of that person?
If so, then yeah - all in on him. If not, it's another dead end, imo. The Mavs should be able to find out.

Has he not shown himself to be deferential? If anything I would think next to Luka we would want him to be MORE assertive and take the lead in creating offense FOR Luka and others.
Am I totally off base here?

Very true.
I love Simmons. Just don't see a realistic Mavs angle. The only Mavs angle I could see with Lillard is that he personally requests a trade to the Mavs.
Both are long shots. I'm not really enamored with this FA class. Should the Mavs have to wait for a Kawhi decision, I don't think the talent drop off from day 1 to day 10 is all that much.

Am I totally off base here? I think of Simmons as mostly running the break and mostly Luka running the half court. Like what Giannis would be here.
