Mavs should have been all over Wood. He would have given them coverage for KP’s injury issues.
Whether Giannis signed the super max or not Wood should have been target numero uno. Signing him would have put the Mavs in a position to have Wood and KP as key pieces and more importantly key assets. Then if a FA is available or...as it played out...the FA market dries up but trade opportunities arise......you have...wait for it...assets! As it stands now your only asset is the ability to take on salary another team doesn’t want.

I do not like the idea of having big money tied into 2 stars with major injuries in their past.
I can see one but there are other options out there other than Oladipo I posted the trade scenario that would work but he is not my first choice in a target player with superstar ability.

Randle plays zero defense, let's not get carried away because of one game.

I'm not trying to make excuses for anyone but it might take time for some players to adjust to empty arenas. I like Oubre in Washington as he showed some flashes but I'm happy he didn't end up here. When is the appropriate time to have the conversation about Kerr's coaching ability?

I think what we are saying is that we do not have a big that can consistently work inside and Randle can do that. He has improved his averages every year and averaged 19 and 10 last year. Like I said if you want a guy that can do everything be prepared to pay 30 million. To say that Randle is a JAG is beyond idiotic. He is a legit 4 in this league and better than anything we have on the roster outside of KP.

I've always been intrigued by the idea of running your second unit through a guy like that.

I also don't get the Otto Porter fascination when he can't even break the starting the lineup on a bad roster.

Same here and we could use a guy like that to counter a Montrez Harrell not that most teams have that but I think you get my point. That is why Montrez is such a bad matchup for us. We have no one that can challenge him on the other end in our second unit. How do you feel about Andre Drummond? I know people are using the Philly Horford comparison but that is not the same situation since KP is a stretch 4/5.

He'd address a massive issue the team has in rebounding. He'll be 28 to start his next contract so a lot younger than Al. I haven't watched his game in a while so I'd have to say "I don't know for now".

Porzingis sat in a few back to backs last year. He'll probably do it this year too. Kawhi and KD will probably sit out some back to backs too. Why dont you remind us how long it's been since Kawhi's injury? These days lots of players sit on back to backs for injury/body management. Not sure why you're melting down over Oladipo. Everyone know it's BUYER BEWARE with him. No one wants to trade the farm for him. If he plays like an All-Star this year, he's probably going somewhere more glamourous like Miami. I'd easily trade our shitty 18th draft pick and THJ to take a chance on him and I'm not even convinced about him. On a scale of 1-10, that's like a 2.5 on the risk scale. Pretty sure it's just message board fans that wont trade a pick in the 16-24 range for anything less than an all-star. Covington got traded for two picks better than the Mavs 18th pick. The question I'm posing is simple: Before you started "coming around on him" because we picked him, would you have traded Josh Green and THJ for Oladipo? Oladipo's career could end tomorrow and I wouldn't lose much sleep over trading that package. Although it would suck not having THJ to finish the year out. |
