Mavs need a PF.

Though I guess Utah has proven me wrong on that, but they have a long background with Favors and they have one of the worst 4 situations of any contending team. Depends on the starting 5 which makes him going back to Utah all the more strange. (11-20-2020, 07:55 PM)StepBackJay Wrote: Mavs need a PF.

I think it is different from team to team. Teams like the Jazz, Pistons or Pelicans still value more traditional bigs whereas others won´t touch a big that cannot shoot. Despite the Boban signing last year the Mavs are probably part of the 2nd category. Listening to RC or Donnie in the last few weeks it is all about shooting. Cannot say that I disagree. Last seasons offensive rating speaks for itself.

Did I read that Dragic and Leonard have no trade clauses?
That Leonard signing is pretty weird if true.

I think most fans are smart enough to see that Favors isn´t a starting PF next to a guy like Gobert. Absoult horrible fit, I agree.(11-20-2020, 07:47 PM)Thukydides Wrote:(11-20-2020, 07:46 PM)HanspardsShowerVoice Wrote: I wish there was a way to rent an NBA front office executive for like 30 minutes and have him break down the disparity of how NBA Front Offices think vs. how fans think about players like Favors.

Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

I do think it's clear that the Mavs need another big, especially if your friend WCS is gone. KP out to start the season, Bobi barely playable... And I understand the argument that "Oh, the Mavs need to rebuild Powell's value," but no they don't, not if they want to win games. He's a guy whose game is 90% predicated on athleticism who just had the most athleticism-wrecking injury in pro sports. His $11 mil is, pretty darn close to objectively, dead money, like the detritus of a stretch waive. So Maxi is currently our starting center to open the season, with no reliable backup. The Mavs will need to be focused on not getting buried standings-wise while waiting for KP's return. That means they need to have some big or another who can provide high quality minutes. Even in the current market, you're going to pay for that.

I'd rather go the scrap heap for guys your friend WCS. There are a ton of options out there, no need to panic.

Haven’t watched many Pistons games in the last decade
For those that have would a Zion and Wood front court work well? |
