100/4 is a realistic start
Too rich for me. I would look at that big of a deal as the next coming of Wes/VAJ/Harry/Parsons until proven dynamically wrong.

I'm more concerned about the trade cost. (Ainge)
Whether you pay him 4/88 or 4/110 doesnt really matter all that much big picture. It still takes you out of major cap space. It's like the KP contract. We'd rather have gotten a better value and protections against injury but if you decide he's the guy, you go ahead and pay.

„Those teams monitoring Ibaka’s free agency believe he’d have interest in a deal in the neighborhood of three years and $12-15 million per year from teams with cap space.“

Totally agree.
If the Mavs' honest evaluation is that he's the guy, I trust them. If they like him, but only at a certain price, I trust them. If they don't think he'll ever be healthy and aren't interested, I trust them.
But, if recent events prompt them to bump him up from one of those views to another, that's trouble, imo.

I would really like to see how you get that 3rd and 4th starter other by drafting Giannis 2.0 with #18. Hayward will be arguably best free agent in 2021 class. Do you think his contract will be lower in 2021 with all the competition around? At least this way he signs it one year younger. Do you prefer paying average starters like Richardson 20 mil per season? I think you need to realize that next Mavs move will be costly in your eyes. Either because of the contract or price paid in a trade. But it will not be because the guy is worth it, it will be because Luka is. Like Milwaukee didn't blink to pay all those unprotected picks for Jrue. They were not for Jrue, they were to keep Giannis and stay relevant.

glad to hear Ibaka isn't going to join the Lakers for MLE (hopefully)

Handing out new contracts would be a terrible mistake on either Oladipo or Hayward. You don’t decide he’s one of our guys till they prove it. We already have a big injury concern in KP. Things could look very different in a year. Two long term injured players on big contracts would ruin Luka’s chances

That's a very fair concern. But, it could also end up that you're getting a great value by buying them at a lower price than you'd pay after they "prove it."
Building a team in pro sports is always going to require calculated risk. The Mavs have gotten Luka and KP in three years. I'm not panicking yet, and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on the next one, probably.

Another semi desperate team willing to spend more than Mavs (well, at least more than people on this forum). I think some people here should get the message. Mavs will get good players when they become desperate. Until then I am affraid we need to accept our offseason aquisitions will be in the range of Curry and Wright.

Dammit!
I knew the Mavs weren't the team when the report said "contender."

So you're taking the exact opposite tack as KL - the Mavs' hand being forced is a *good* thing.

Yeah I agree with Oma here
Just go in with reckless abandon. Shoot for the absolute best 3rd guy we can get no matter what it costs.
We need to unleash Donnie

Not really. You pay Hayward if you think he is good. If not, you don't get him. You can forget getting him for a pack of peanuts, because there will always be a couple of desperate teams looking for that final piece of the puzzle to push them to the top.
My point - when you find the piece of the puzzle you like, price is not really that important at this point.

Well, I wouldn't say we're opposites. I see and agree with his point.
I think what matters is, do you think the team is ready to BENEFIT from that type of move, and if so, how much will they benefit?
Depending on the move, you could convince me to go hard for a win now player and overlook the price, as @"omahen" is suggesting, or you could convince me to heavily invest in the future, as @"Kammrath" has been screaming at us for weeks.
It really comes down to how the Mavs evaluate their own chances over the next two years.
