Turning back to basketball, the Mavs have produced a LOT of their own drama the last few years, since Luka's arrival actually. I want to believe in the young crew the MBT Mark III has assembled, but I'm skeptical enough to not get too emotionally attached until they start showing results. Cautiously hopeful, I guess.

I'm still to numb to the Mavs and find it hard to be excited about Cooper which probably has less to do with him and more about what we threw away to get him.  It's cool to have a real GM for once.  I do have high hopes for Rez.

Audio recordings of Hind calling for help sparked international outrage. In August, the Israeli military confirmed soldiers fired on the vehicle and ordered an internal criminal investigation into the incident. Al-Shaair was previously fined $11,593

Mike Curtis: The #Mavs have officially announced they will hold their annual media day next Friday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. Masai Ujiri, Dusty May and players will be in attendance. Training camp practices will begin the following day as the team prepares for the 2026 NBA China Games.

Marc Stein: Given all the recent talk about Cooper Flagg’s height, I asked his longtime trainer Matt MacKenzie ( @resultsbb ). Says Matt: “I haven’t put a measuring tape next to him, so I can’t confirm or deny if he’s grown in height. All I can say is he’s had one hell of an offseason. And no matter if he’s 6-9, 6-10 or 6-11, he’s going to be a problem.”

We are all pulling/hoping/praying for a healthy Lively return, which got me to thinking about his injury and how common lower body problems are to these young bigs entering the league over the last several years. You can point to Embiid, Holmgren, Veesaar and others who have missed time early in their careers.

I'm wondering if these guys are coming out too soon, from a health/growth standpoint. If they are still growing/maturing, maybe their bodies aren't ready for an 82+ game grind. Especially if they are basing their game on being able to levitate above everyone else. Even the smaller players (e.g., Derrick Rose, Ja Morant) get injured trying to play the game in the air rather than on the floor. Instead of one-and-done, maybe staying for another year or two would allow them to mature physically instead of just trying to keep up with the NBA schedule. But the lure of a first-round contract is pretty tempting, although recent NIL money makes that a little less of a draw.

Lively is tricky.  Do we even really know much about his surgery?   It feels like not a lot has gotten out.  Foot injuries for bigs are concerning but I feel like this should not be a career threatening thing.   He hasn't been able to play basketball hardly at all for a year though.   From all the pictures from the Mavs, he is in plenty lifting weights but I have not seen him on the court yet playing basketball.   That is a tad concerning.    Also, his style of play of contesting a lot of shots at the rim in a crowded lane is also dangerous.
