Seems like you are ignoring his comment that he is not going to try to define the draft equity.  There is a level of draft compensation that makes this a good deal for Mavs (its a lot).  He is simply coming up with a structure that makes sense for all parties.

People have to be willing to read thoroughly instead of hurriedly rushing to publish their hot takes.  It happens.

GS is now above the first apron, so all of the fantasy deals with GS are essentially dead. They can't take back more salary than they send out. Which doesn't help the Mavs. Green would have to be the last part of business for them, not the first. They also can't sign Klay if he gets bought out.

BTW, isn't this very close to the number he gave up. Did we presume he was going to tear up that last year and take less?

I think the bigger impediment is the potential to have all of that cap space next summer.  Is their plan really to let Jimmy, Curry and Green ride off into the sunset after this season?  Will there be better players in free agency than some of what is available in trade for Jimmy now?

You can't avoid hard cap consequences by signing a player later. The hard cap itself - for doing xyz - prevents any added spending above to go over that apron by ANY means.

Are we dismissing Minny as a potential trade partner?   They need a PF.   At the end of the year, the GM strangely did not include Randle and Gobert in their core.   He did include Naz who was then traded.  They have a young big who they supposedly really like.   It would probably need to be a three team trade unless you like Gobert and Shannon Jr for PJ and Gafford.    

Although a three team framework could work with PJ going to Minny, Gobert going somewhere else and Dallas getting X.    PJ and Klay?   PJ to Gobert seems light for Minny though.

Not sure what this tweet means.  Does that mean they have 50 million in cap space if they let all go?   They obviously want to resign Curry, right?   That Podz extension is tricky.  You could get yourself in trouble quickly with that one.

The Mavs could have done this deal using the Nemby TPE: $2,150,917. It's an exact match of Broome's salary. Would have kept them under the tax and added a SRP for the trouble.

Takeaway: The new MBT doesn't value second round picks. Having traded away 5 so far.

Miami has Jovic, Portis and Mitchell to easily match Klay´s salary in any three-way trade. That´s a PF for contender, a PF for a rebuilding team and a 3&D guard. They are trying to sell Masai that they can´t find a single team interested in such a trade.   Cuban would have bought Klay out already for the good relationship vibes.

Eh this is so boring. We heard the same sh*t about Wiggins, KAT and Lavine in Minnesota. Now they have two championships. How many does Jimmy "The Winner" Butler have?  See how easy that was.

There is literally not an All-Star in this league that is a losing player, cause you don´t get to the NBA All-Star level without being very good at basketball. They are all good players, but sometimes they need to be slotted into the correct roles. Lavine is not a winning player as a #1 option, probably not even a #2 option, but look at the current market. Zach Lavine will be 32 years old next summer. He´s always been near the top of the food chain of chronically bad franchises or do we blame the last two decades of the Bulls and Kings on him? He´s actually a perfect trade candidate, cause he´s expiring, but if the Mavs make the win now moves next summer, then he´ll be asked to be the 3rd or 4th option for the first time in his career. At age 32 he´ll likely have to accept the MLE, cause he is a loser after all. It´s all about timing.

So, boring huh? I hope they trade for him since he's played on losing teams, and they weren't the right fit, lol. Maybe he'll change his stripes, but your reputation precedes you.

I understand not all reporters are cap experts, but this has not been written for the first time. How is NO supposed to open cap space to extend an offer sheet to Mathurin, if they are roughly 30 mil over the cap space? They would need to shed at least 50 mil of salary, to be able to present an interesting offer sheet. Chicago is roughly right at the cap line, so they too would need to shed significant salary to be able to extend an offer sheet.

The way I see it, SnT is their only option. Or am I missing something?

Yeah, I think Sign and trade would be the most likely option.   Feels like Clippers are fine with him being back but would like to see a team make an offer where they can move on from him.   Just my take.   

Maybe the Bulls are not a dumb team any longer, but getting the Bulls, Pelicans, and Kings (not mentioned but you always want them) interested in your player is a good place to be.

So what does Denver do.  It appears the league is not very interested in helping them get out of this mess.    Still a really good team when healthy.   Their ownership has not paid the tax and there is doubts if they have any interest to do so.   Jokic will watching.  

Gordon is coming off an injured season, but a healthy Gordon could be the difference between a good vs great team.  He just has not been healthy.    Same with Murray.    Do the Nuggets do something like Boston did with Brown?

I can't see teams interested in Braun or Zeke.   Teams would probably have interest in Cam Johnson but it would only probably lead to reducing their tax bill in any trade.    

I didn't like their draft movement this year either.    I thought trading out of the first was not the best direction.
