I would also argue that this FO is targeting players with a team oriented mindset (which explains why the majority has been European) and I'm not sure Mathurin fits that bill. I guess we will see.
EDIT: actually the last player I remember looking at that had a good rookie season and then didn't improve much for years after is Kuzma. Not saying they are the same player, but there are some similarities. Offensive scorers who are not great 3 point shooters, don't create much for others and not great defenders. I'm sure Mathurin will turn into something better, but there are hints.
I think this is valid reason to avoid him...if true. I'm just not sure we have enough information to declare he's not team-oriented. But, for clarity, if that ends up bing the case then I'll be out on him. I just have a good feeling about how he'd fit here, idk.
If the Mavs get him and he turns into another Kuzma I'll probably hang myself, so you'll get the last laugh there.

Report on discord that Denver is re-signing Watson. If that’s true, no Mathurin for the Mavs. Just go get Scoot.

Also on Discord - tweet from Schmitz back in the day, fanboy-ing Hezonja.

It's been needing to be said (this isn't about you):
The various notes we keep seeing that "Schmitz said _________ about player x" are so incredibly meaningless (and misleading). Over the many years on scouting platforms, Schmitz scouted almost every player and probably made comments about almost all of them. He would have focused on selling points for them. The fact he has commented on a player is not saying this was his favorite, or his player, or someone he paid special attention to.
As for Hezonja, he doesn't fit the Mavs roster direction at all. Too old, and certainly NOT one who plays a position of need. And he's very likely looking for a much bigger role than the Mavs would have to offer.

Cannot wait for him to retire.
My only fear is that Lebron is such an attention whore that even in retirement he's going to find a way to anything in the NBA about himself.
