Yes about giving up assets for Holiday but what if the trade was Klay and Marshall?? Do you consider that assets?

It is probably moot though.  The blazers probably view him as an important jack of all trades who can fill in at different areas for a team looking to make the next step.  The salary may be an issue to Dallas as well.

If a combination of Klay/Naji/PJ/Gafford/some SRPs can land us Derrick White i will pull the trigger.

But i doubt that Boston will do it...

Flagg has no timelines. He, like Kobe and MI were, is ready to win despite his age. Anyone doubts he would have done better than Dylan in the playoffs if his team were in the same situation?

I know mgmt has limited options due to all the missteps of the past and there is no easy solution. However any mention of timelines has to consider that every year we do not do our best to put a team to contend, we are wasting a generational talent’s time.

I think this is a dangerous mindset.  Based on this argument you could warrant spending the few remaining future assets on win now vets so we don't waste his talent.  Flagg will probably hit his prime sooner than most, but its still going to be a couple of years.  More importantly this roster timeline is not now.  It does not have the overall talent to win now.

So far this FO is doing exactly what a lot of us hoped it would.  They focused on the 26 draft and then focused on acquiring young players.  That mindset needs to continue until they see significant success on the court.  Then you can start assessing when to make win now moves.

Another ballhandler doesn't really solve the problem because he probably wouldn't start. PJ and Christie are basically locked into the starting lineup since there's no real positional competition.

So it comes down to them and the center: a) knock down enough threes to keep the floor spaced, and b) make quick decisions and play within what will hopefully be a good offensive system under Dusty May. If they can do that, Kyrie and Coop are enough. If not, they aren't.

Sure, in a perfect world you'd replace Christie with a third creator who's also an elite three-point shooter. But who exactly is that player?

I mean eventually they are going to have to replace one or both of those guys in the starting/finishing lineup.  I don't really see PJ or Max as locked in.  PJ may not even be on the roster to start the season and you can make an argument Aldama at least challenges him.  The real hope is that Sergio develops into a quality starter.  But they will obviously need to eventually upgrade the talent on the team, and that will probably involve putting another creator in the starting lineup.

Obviously, if PJ and/or Christie are not on the roster,, they would not be locked in, lol. But IF they stay, they are the obvious starters for their respective positions - unless we trade for an upgrade (say LeBron or Jrue/White).

Same here. I guess it would make us better significantly enough w/o selling our future.

I agree with you. With a player like Coop, you have to be especially careful. If you build the team the right way, you're a contender for years. But if you go all-in too early, you risk getting stuck in mediocrity and wasting his potential.

I actually think we were on the right track with Luka after Nico took over (Kyrie, PJ, Gaff,...). We were only a few smart moves away until the idiot blew it all up.

Building a team like the Cavs for example might make you a very good regular-season team, but I don't think it gets you over the top. I mean do you really want to have somebody like Spider and Little Game James to occupy more than half of your capspace?  I'd rather follow the Spurs' approach. They have Wemby, and they're still being patient instead of rushing the process.

But that is Fire Nico's point.  Having two secondary creators (as you put it) and three finishers in the starting lineup is not enough creation.  They need more in the starting lineup.  They may not make that upgrade this offseason, but they are going to need to make it.

I'm looking forward to seeing the 23 and under lineup get some run next season:

Sergio 20
Max 23
Flagg 19
Rez 20
Lively 22

Idc about spacing, playmaking, positions, etc. Just that they are all young promising players. If they all reach their ceiling in the next few years, it's a solid core, entering their prime around the same time.

Great point... If two of those 4 not named Cooper Flagg will become a championship starter we are in a very good position.

Yes, I agree that probably Flagg is ready to win now (but not to lead a team) but trade assets (kids and picks) to add win now players is wrong for me too.

But Naji/PJ/Klay/Gafford are expendable.

Of course no to Embiid, Kawhi or other old injury prones.
No way.

Only 4 teams make the SL playoffs.

15 teams have 2-1 records or better

NBA Stat‬: Weird stat: Caleb Wilson is shooting .480 from three and .231 from the free throw line in summer league. He shot .259 from three and .713 from the free throw line in college. Upside down... #NBA

Looks like Morez may be out for the remainder of summer league.

I think that may be my neighbor working on his calf. Although I thought my neighbor was an accountant.
