Trade & Free Agency 2026/2027

Buy out Klay to let him ring chase? Cisse isn’t technically back. Can still be a two-way…

Think a 2 for 1 deal is more likely than ever now. Martin+PJ is about 30 mil.

Jrue holiday is making 34.8. I know the Blazers are signaling they don’t want to move him, but that 2 for 1 still lets the Mavs use about 13 mil of the MLE.

Yeah, I don't know if it's going to be that, specific move, but...something else is coming, because this roster is even less balanced than it was a year ago at this time.

We acquired another 4? What is happening? Did I miss a rule change in the NBA?

I like Aldama but this roster makes no sense yet.

I liked Aldama all the way back to the draft. He was a big thing in European youth basketball, but then went to a really minor college, where he put up good numbers, but nobody paid attention to him anymore. He dropped to 30, Grizzlies moved up from the 2nd round and grabbed him. Ironically got all their money back, cause it was three 2nd round picks too.

So I like the player, but they must still have 1-2 additional moves planned.

I still can´t believe the Brown deal.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lively is about to be released or something.  This guy is yet another 4/5 like Morez.

I was going to submit Aldama as Luka 2028 evidence, but then I saw Luka call him a f´n soft arse b**** and not even in Spanish.

Point Forward: Flagg
Stretch big: Aldama
Rim runner: Johnson Jr

sneakily makes a ton of sense skill wise. That would be a very mobile & skilled two way frontcourt despite the young age. No real holes, all pieces fit nicely.

Also Biberovic is a straigt up killer. I really hope he comes over. Very respected player in Europe and a really fun watch.

I'm trying to get excited...again...young, long, moves ok and most importantly CAN SHOOT. But, I'm struggling with this a little.

Hard to tell. On offense he has a really nice inbetween/midrange game and is a good passer for his size/position. High 3PA-rate. Not really doing all that much in the paint. On defense he isn't doing any of the traditional big stuff but also isn't a great lateral athlete. Will be interesting to see how they use him.
If you are interested in the +/- based stuff. Slight positive on offense. Slight negative on defense.
Overall this feels like another Schmitz/Ujiri guy. Size, versatility, High feel/IQ.

Question is how they view the roster. There is no scenario where I am completly out on this trade but I obviously like some scenarios more than others. I could easily talk myself into a versatile front court rotation with Aldama/PJ/Morez. Move one of the traditional bigs. I wouldn't hate it if they move one of the forwards and replace him with Aldama. I wouldn't be as big of a fan if this means Flagg is going to be the primary ballhandler and the Mavs will have multiple somewhat limited forwards/bigs on the floor next to him.

The bad news: so far, the roster makes even less sense than it did before FA started.
The good news: both Mavs targets, Aldama and Sasser, will help tremendously with spacing. Like, a lot, I think.

I'm not concerned (yet) about 5-man combos or the rotation. When thinking in groups of two only, Aldama fits really well with Flagg, Kyrie, Johnson, Lively, Christie, Marshall, whoever you want to think about. And...kinda seems like they found their "stretch 5" option.

My main point here is that we are at 14 roster spots with the Aldama and Sasser trades.

Kyrie | Sasser | Nemby
Christie | Klay | Sergio
Flagg | Naji | Martin
PJW | Aldama
Gafford | Morez | Lively

Cisse is a RFA, and still two-way eligible. Dan was assuming he was back for sure. Even if he does come back, there are other ways to free up roster spots. As in: buyout Klay and/or waive Nemby.

I think you should have some concern unless you expect Kyrie to play 82.  Bench shot creation is going to be rough, especially if everyone gets their wish of ripping my heart out and trading Naji.  Nembhard had some nice games last year, but I'm not sure I see it yet.

So basically Ainge got more for Walker Kessler than Stevens did for Jaylen Brown. LOL.

Oh, don't worry - I'll have plenty of concern if this ends up being the roster. But, I don't believe it will be.

Just off watching highlights a few probably wrong takes.

7 footer with a negative wingspan.
Best as a bench piece
Not a center
More finesse than force
Perimeter player
Good movement for his size
How defends wings will probably tell us how impactful he will be
Wasn’t the minutes from the Grizz any longer
Seems to have a pretty good feel
You probably don’t want him wrestling much in the post.
Pretty solid short dribble drive for such a big guy

Not a single guy from the two 50 win teams in 22 and 23 left on the Grizzlies roster.
