Thinking a little more about Sexton...
What about Gafford to platoon at C in Chicago for S&T Sexton and Essengue?
Dallas can just sign Sexton outright for up to the MLE, so there has to be something more for sending out Gafford. With Wilson, Buzelis and Swain, Chicago is kind of covered with young 3's and 4's. They are also still paying Patrick Williams.
Essengue seems like a fit with what we seem to like. Masai passed on him in favor of CMB a year ago, but I recall Essengue coming to Toronto for a workout during a trip to the US while he was still involved in European playoffs. It would be a real coup to add him as additional positional size in the front court.

Hachimura would be imho perfect for Minny now. Spotrac doesn't have the updated salary cap situation yet and I am too lazy to calculate it myself, but I think Minny should be around MLE money under their apron.

As far as the OKC path goes, I think it will be pretty costly. I asked in Discord the other day, but I'd be curious what your opinion was.
Would you trade the '29 FRP (LAL) for Cason Wallace and Isaiah Joe into the TPE? It removes $18.7M from their payroll and still leaves them with SGA, Caruso, Dort, McCain, Mitchell, Topic, Stirtz at the Guard position. If it's an easy yes, what else would you be willing to give up?
Without hesitation. I LOVE the Wallace fit here. He's very likely to be better than what we'd get with the Laker's pick and you get him 3 years earlier and he's already seasoned enough to get major minutes in high level playoff games.

Cason would be a great get. Skeptical he is on the market

Nothing I mean, unless you like Green back plus one of their younger players. But I assume Minny will fill the roster with whatever space they have in their MLE

I like this for MIN. Anthony Edwards wasn't going to stick around forever.
I appreciate executives that go for it. I had no problem with the Rudy Gobert trade either.
What did Sean McVay and Les Snead say? Sometimes you gotta let your nuts hang. F them picks.

Terrance Shannon Jr and Josh Green is a match. Big young off ball guard is exactly what we just passed up on in the draft....I don't have strong feelings on Terrance Shannon though, haven't watched him enough but he kind of fits the mold of what we need currently.

Tobias Harris, John Collins, Rui, Barnes, Dean Wade and Kuminga could fill the PF hole Minny has. Some of them might get offers above the MLE, but the playing opportunity is great for them, as Minny doesn't have any competition at the position. A lot of minutes available.

They have to make tough decisions very soon. Wallace is extension eligible and will demand a big payday. SGA jumps to $60M+ next year. To go with Chet and Williams at ~$45M/ea. Mitchell, McCain, Topic, Caruso are all extension eligible next summer. Too many mouths to feed. Cason could be the cap casualty there is my thinking. Surely, he'll want the max he can get ~4/$108M...

I´d give them Caleb Martin for that package.
I´m actually optimistic they will get something done. There are plenty of guards out there that are still young (27 or under), either free agents or entering the last year of their contract. And there are a lot of moving parts. Tyler Herro and RJ Barrett as 26 year old well-rounded big guard UFAs in 2027 could be prime targets at the TDL.

Sure but I would say that Kuminga and Harris probably stay put, Collins and Barnes are kind of washed and PJ is way better than Dean Wade. Rui would be a great pick up with the MLE for sure but if they can't snag him and they're desperate to keep Ant happy then they could go fishing with their last young asset for another PF.

I'd give them Caleb Martin for a post-it note that says "Thank you for Caleb Martin"

Free agent guard Coby White intends to sign a three-year, $74 million deal to return to the Charlotte Hornets, sources tell ESPN. White was a major priority for the Hornets and now steps into a new starting role in the backcourt.
Over $24M AAV. Sheesh. Mavs were never in the mix anyway.

On some YT channel somebody made a throw away comment that Sexton and his family love the Dallas area and that he´d love to live here. I´m almost ready to pencil him in for one of the guard positions at this point. The Mavs are not that unprepared.

Sexton in his 8-year career has averaged 60 games played per season. The high mark being his rookie year, playing in all 82. He has averaged 29.0 MPG in 457 games. 357 as a starter. With career averages of 18.3 points, 3.6 assist, 2.7 rebounds, 0.8 steals. Shooting splits of 47.2 %FG, 38.9 %3PT, 84.1 %FT.
He's a 6'3 combo-guard with a 6'7.25 wingspan and 8'2.5 standing reach.
I'm pushing Sexton to Mavs now. It's the only way to cope with losing Ayo and Coby before free agency even started...

Look how the hornets got here. I’m hope Mavs think similar.
Last offseason they received Sexton for Nurkic and got a second round pick. At the deadline they traded sexton and three second round picks for White. Now they are extending white who will now have a bigger role. Nice asset management by Charlotte
