That remains the dream. Luka and Coop. If that happens…Basketball would be back to how it was supposed to be
For now all they can do is clean house and build this thing up around Flagg. If that works they will probably have a shot at righting this wrong.
Dirk would be all in as well I guess trying to recruit him. Hopefully Ujiri can find a way to bring him back into the organization.
Dirk, Luka, Coop. Our big three.
Man I wish I could still post gifs. Imagine that teary eyes gif here pls.

My take on Kidd as a coach in general is probably a lot more positive than most people around here. I hated the way the carried himself in the media and the offense took a serious step back but overall he did a good job performing with this team whenever he was given a good roster. He also did a lot better in regards to finding minutes for younger players than he is given credit for.
I still think he played his role in the Luka trade which is unforgivable and it probably never would have worked with him and Ujiri being here anyways.
Therefore it’s better for all parties involved to move on quickly Imo.

Thank God, looks like Masai is gonna build this team with his own people.

Not a huge surprise really. When the new president didn’t endorse the coach it was actually a big flashing sign that he would be replaced. Stand up and pay attention. There’s no longer as much need for speculation. I think the new boss will tell it like it really is.

Wow surprising. I thought with the contract and the Flagg approval, that he would have been here for another year or two. But I think the writing was on the wall. Kidd probably wanted a change too. After having one, if not largest, voice in the room, that voice is now greatly diminished. I could see himself wanting to go somewhere else.
I thought Kidd did well here. Not sure if he is the coach as this team improves, but he is a solid coach. Players love him. I just could never get over the role he played in the Luka trade. He may not have been there when the trade was made, but there is no doubt he muddied the waters leading up to the trade.
I suspect Dallas looks for a younger coach. Schmitz has been around a lot of coaches and probably likes some of the younger ones who have been grinders. My favorite choice would be an expensve one and one really hard to get. Dan Hurley. He could make everyone crazy, but he is the best coach in basketball. Their offense is awesome. He is great developing players. If he ever had the itch, coaching Cooper at 19 would be appealing. it would be very expensive. My guess is they look for a younger, first time head coach though.

Just sucks that they wasted so much time. 12 months ago this thing was already dead but Kidd had interest from NY and Davis still value around the league.
They really should have moved on quicker from the Harrison era and jumpstart the rebuild with whatever they could have gotten.

Jason is a master though. The way he was able to escape almost all of the blame of the Luka trade takes great skill. He was also masterful how he handled the relationship with Flagg and family. I would think they are not thrilled with this.
Kidd was always great at the political game. Probably a main reason why it was best for both parties to look for a new landing spot. I could see Kidd not being fully on board with the new GM and using his power to push back some.
I definitely think this increases a Kyrie trade. I would still bet that it doesn't happen this summer. Although, probably a good chance by trade deadline or next offseason that he is on a new team.

I agree…. Even though Masai had a track record of keeping the coach, his words were telling leading up to this.

It would seem to me that Masai must have a very short list of people he thinks should be coaching the team. Does he have his eye on someone?

If Kidd wants to coach, I could see him targeting the Orlando job. I guarantee you he was hoping for a Knicks implosion the past few weeks.
Billy Donovan has been speculated for the Magic, but I could see Kidd being a good fit. Players like him and will all the unhappiness there, he might fit in better than the more hard charging Donovan. I think the Orlando job is a good one as that team underachieved.

I don't want to hear any talk about the new owners being "cheap". Wears me out.

Well, so far, they haven't been, so I doubt you will have to hear anything of the sort for a long while (thank goodness).
You'll hear it again if Cuban comes up, because he was cheap during his last decade of stewardship (obviously).

Ha! Are you kidding?
As soon as the honeymoon is over, and any potential roster change could be viewed through the lens of "the owner is cheap", there will be moaning and complaining.
It's what fans do.

Maybe, but based on the evidence of this summer, they'd be wrong.
Most of the other times it has been discussed (around here, at least) there has been a lot of evidence supporting their view.
