Why these guys are not higher up the board. They make Philon look big.

I don't think Tanner sits anywhere in the first round with those measurements.

Okorie was actually the biggest surprise for me. He’s electric and really not as small as I expected. Biggest wingspan of all the guards (except Peterson)??

That is 6'4 in shoes for a PG. How is that small?

7) Burries
8) Flemings

I’m aware that my rankings are different than the consensus. But I’ve watched all 10 of these guys in at least 5 full games each. Most of them in many more than that. So, it is what it is… This is a board for Mavs only. Not a mock, or what I think will happen.
Well, 6 weeks later and we know where the Mavs are picking as well as the measurables for these guards, and who the President/GM are.
My personal board is still unchanged. This is what I would have. I think the Mavs will have Ament and Yaxel somewhere in the mix though.

Acuff is one of the biggest winners by just proving he isn't the small guy people thought he is.
Fleming is possibly the biggest loser.
Mara, Steinbach & Ament are all winners of this combine, Burries is a bit of a winner too as he has the size of a SG.
No chance we get Acuff, but with the raw physical tools alone, there is solid chances that the likes of Mara & Ament will be selected before our pick.

How big was Ryan Nembhard?
Seems like those little guys just get incessantly hunted on defense.

I expected him to be small. Love how he pressures you full court and you can’t teach his electric speed and jumping ability.
Feel the same about Flemings. Will need to watch more of him but that speed is electric. Exactly what I want playing next to Copper at one of the guards.

I think the testing will be big for Stirtz. If you can play, you can play but he needs a good day. Not tall, older, and lacks the ideal traits.

Eventful day. Yaxel has some of the most insane measurables for a guy with his skill I’ve ever seen, and that entire Michigan frontline are giants. I think Yaxel and Mara both jumped above the Mav’s pick, pushing a couple of guards down. But the guards mostly fared poorly. Lots of drama left in the pre draft process. But if Yax is there at 9, I’m just taking him. No regrets at all. He’s massive and fast and skilled.

Regarding 30th pick, I am starting to get inclined towards Sergio de Larrea. He has the traits to be a PG or SG if needed in the NBA and is playing winning basketball at the age of 20 in one of the best leagues if not the best outside of the NBA. Schmitz was always one of the guys who always had interest in Euro guys like him when he was at draftexpress. If we don't get a guard with the 9th pick, I feel he is the one for the 30th pick, or maybe a move up from our 48th

The strange thing about Yaxel is that several podcasts have said he still has upside.... and he's good at everything.
I just watched another Burries video, and they say something similar about him. He's not super explosive and doesn't have one single elite feature, but he's a solid defender and can merge well into almost any lineup. He might be very good with Flagg because of these variable skills.

It's his weight. At 176 lbs he has a slight frame, and its probably not getting any bigger because he had basically the same measurements last year. Being that light and without elite athleticism will make it difficult not to get exposed on defense.

Even worse than expected. Still like him but he's not an option at #30. Maybe #48. More likely as an undrafted guy.

Isn’t Burries wingspan a negative for his height? Some of the smaller guards have his wingspan. Am I reading it wrong?

Main takeaway. Wingspan inflation is real.
