Went over to hawksquad...and a poster there everyone seems to think has some sort of connections posted the following:
We're talking more seriously with the Mavs about AD coming here. Idea is to pair him long term with Trae. Make of that what you will. 52 minutes ago, Megaloxali said: Are we particularly close? Kinda? It is between us and the Raps. Mavs want a certain French player in the deal. That's the hang up.

Yeah, if you're not getting great offers, the only leverage you have is the willingness to walk away. I just hope they are prepared to do what's necessary and continue the tank if he stays.

I´ll make a bold prediction that does not concern the Mavs. I call a Banchero for Giannis trade.

Saying AD’s career is basically done (which is what you imply when you say he’ll decrease in value before the summer) is not reasonable. It’s fear.

The best thing was can say about any of this is that there are at least three teams interested in aquiring AD.
It may be that none of them can put a good offer on the table, but the fact that there are multiple interests is promising. I doubt it lives up to what many people want, but I suspect the value will be accuarately determined with this much interest.

(And it also tends to assure the bidders that they are smart if they can get him - motivating them to try harder.) If competition is lacking in trying to obtain the player, and if you act out of fear he will lose value if you wait, that's when you get screwed. (See Doncic, L.) The fear being expressed by others here that the Mavs are in danger of not being able to trade AD for anything of value, if they don't hurry and act quickly, feels panicky. But factually, teams want him. And while we've heard of 3-4, likely MORE will enter the discussion by the TDL or the summer. There may already be others we know nothing about. Why? It's about supply-and-demand. If you read the discussions re other teams, many teams are desperate for bigs who can rebound at a high rate, defend and block shots, and score. We can't rebound. We can't defend. We have no rim protection. Our big can't score. That refrain is everywhere. AD is one of the rarities that does all of that at a superior level, all solved by ONE single player. And GMs tend to focus on a player's upside potential (especially if they have seen it in lots and lots of games), and how it will fix their needs, rather than focus on the flaws. I would be in no hurry until I got a really strong price. The market will come to us. No need to chase it.

The Suns just got Jalen Green (a negative contract), Dillon Brooks, #10 pick in 2025, #31 pick in 2025, and some 2nd rd picks for Kevin Durant.
Ask yourself if Anthony Davis has more value than Kevin Durant or if more teams are interested in AD than KD.

I think they´ll find a deal with the Hawks, cause there are multiple positive factors at play.
1. Hawks don´t own their pick, but it will still be valuable to the Mavs. 2. Hawks do own the Pelicans pick. Retaining that pick, they can sell as a win for their fans. 3. Risacher is a former #1 pick, which the Mavs can sell as a win, despite not getting the Pelicans pick. I had to guess it will get done as AD for Porzingis + Risacher + Hawks 2026 1st round pick. Maybe they move some pieces around the edges, but that will be the core deal.

The pick situation is weird. Tankathon has 2026 Atlanta pick going to San Antonio, Cleveland pick going to Atlanta, and San Antonio pick going to Cleveland. (as of right now)

But in most scenarios Utah (-->OKC) and Minny just keep their picks. By far the most likely scenario is that Atlanta gets the Cavs 2026 pick, so that would be the pick they send to Dallas, currently the 15th pick.

Risacher scored 4 more points than AD did tonight of Atlanta’s 125 total points.

I wonder if Cleveland would have any interest in AD. Then Lebron can join him next summer.

Some would have put Lively off the table, but most would still welcome the deal. None would care about any draft picks. Mavs right now in No man's land in the wild wild west. A year and half after being West Champions, they have Flagg, they have ring ambitions forso long due to the trio of Dirk>Luka>Flagg. Embiid serves no purpose while being done physically. Atlanta is a franchise that has made rebuild tons of times, that never made it to the finals, that has a chance in the wide open East where the best 3 teams have two of them losing their franchise player this year and the 3rd one hired a coach that didn't make it out of first round in dozen of years. There is a reason the interest in AD is all from the East, and not from the best teams of last year that won't compete this time. |
