I don't know. It seems like every team he has played on (a lot for his short career) thinks its less than what he does, which is a red flag. He is a good offensive player and decent enough defensively that he could start in the right lineups. I would probably value him closer to Gafford than PJ for comparison, although he does have more potential for growth. The thing is, when he was here he did not play any better than Klay (who is not going any where). I also think Kidd may have had some issues with him. Doesn't make sense to trade back for a guy you didn't seem to really want here.

Christie does not have near the ceiling that Grimes has. I like Christie, but he's looking like a good bench player. Grimes has the potential to be a top 50 two-way player.

Maybe, maybe not
Keep in mind that Christie is nearly 3 years younger

Max had some decent production but he showed some timidity in his nature that I really do not like.
Hardy may not defend as well but at least he is hell bent on getting a bucket when he gets that ball.
If Cooper makes a decent option at the 2 we may want to play him there enough to rest Klay and when Irving gets back Exum at the 2 may help with DLO as our 2nd team PG.

Yikes. You guy wanna change the name to Nicoboard.com? The Luka and Grimes slander, while hyping up unproven Mavs players is a bit embarrassing.

The Grimes situation is fascinating. No doubt he wants to get that bag now. Who knows what next year brings. He could be a heavy minute bench player. After his strong finish to the season, he thought he was in prime position to really take advantage of his restricted free agency. With no money left, betting on himself is dicey. Especially for someone who has had some knee concerns. Not sure I would take the QO option. That appears risky.
BTW, I think Grimes is better than Martin. Although, I could see in a perfect world where several good teams would want Martin over Grimes. That may be over now if Martin can't be healthy and the Grimes jump is real. I just want to be up front about that though. I don't know if Martin has a role here. It is funny though. He was in a similar spot as Grimes is now last summer in FA.

So Grimes hasn't shown he has the *potential* to be a top 50 2way player?

CBA question... if Grimes signs the QO, when would he be eligible to be traded? Could it be a S&T, or does the QO negate that?

To me, the question doesn't make sense because you don't qualify what "potential" would look like. There needs a metric or statistic applied over a period of time.
Grimes comes off the bench. He's had some big games and games where he disappears, but there's not many players that would qualify as a top 50 player coming off the bench unless maybe he's "sixth man of the year" candidate or something like that.

And that's where I see Grimes, either starting at SG or 6thman, with some burn on at SF on a smaller lineup. Bottomline is he's a very good POA defender and shoots at a really efficient rate. I was screaming to start him over Klay last year.

This is where we are on a different page. I don't think he qualifies as a really good POA defender. He was ok. If he was that good of a defender I think he gets more minutes here and they don't trade him. Kidd was actually critical of his defense on multiple occasions.

I can´t decide whether Franz Wagner is closer to Scottie Pippen or Erick Dampier offensively. Misses so many open shots and open lay-ups with brick hands, but somehow is averaging 20 PPG.
Also Isaac Bonga not being in the NBA is crazy. Lakers drafting is ridiculously good. They just don´t know it and get rid of them all.

Giannis shut down Turkey and Schroeder finished them. Germany was down 5 with 5 to go, Giannis showed up and sat under the Turkish basket. Then Schroeder once again scored the final six points in the last minute. Although I think Finals MVP has to go to Bonga. Insane performance 20/5/3, 73/57/100 from the field with his usual elite defense. Clutch shot after clutch shot. This probably puts Schroeder into the HOF discussion.
Also a win for the purity of basketball. Turkey and Spain would not even make the last four of Eurobasket without their American guards. Also letting Sengun drop to 16, when your starting C is Dwight Powell. Mavs are such morons. I saw two minutes of his highlights and knew he was a top 5 player in that draft.

The Atlanta Hawks are trading guard Kobe Bufkin to the Brooklyn Nets for cash considerations, sources tell ESPN. Bufkin was Atlanta's No. 15 pick in the 2023 NBA draft, and this now gives him a fresh opportunity in Brooklyn, and the Hawks some roster flexibility.

Bufkin was on a similar level as OMax in terms of value wise imo, maybe a bit higher given he was a former lotto pick, and he still went for free essentially.
Bufkin arguably showed more than OMax too, although in extremely limited showings.

Even at a #15 pick, if you don’t show promise in your first two injury free seasons, it’ll be tough to make an NBA roster.
Bufkin… I think I could beat him in HORSE

Jimmy Butler has reached out to the Warriors’ front office to try to understand exactly what their plan is, per @DaltonJ_Johnson
“In that ESPN article, they mentioned that Draymond and Jimmy have checked in and reached out to Jonathan Kuminga. I can confidently say that Jimmy Butler has also reached out to the team and been like, ‘what's going on here? I just wanted to know the plan.’”

All the RFAs are playing out in a fairly predictable manner. See my guesses from weeks ago in post 2461 and prior, above, and nothing ever changed. The reality is that the hard cap brought some sanity to the mix, where teams are now making real choices with a limited budget, and a RFA can't credibly threaten to simply go get a ridiculous deal from another team if you don't meet his demands.
The grass on the other side isn't greener after all.
There's a belief that everything will be different next summer, but I'm skeptical. All the cap room might get eaten up by extensions and re-signs. And with tax and aprons and hard caps, no team can really benefit from paying stupid money to a player to get them.
