Trade & FA 2025-26: Free Agency Starts 5pm CST/6pm EST

Its also not Nico legal as I don't see Nico sending out one of his guys for a non difference maker.

I love the increased parity. Despite all the complaining about how restrictive the new CBA is, you still see tons of cases where teams  happily overpay players with little attempt to negotiate more reasonable deals. I think it's only fair if that forces them to blow it up.

To build a dynasty I think you either need to go the OKC infinite 1st round pick generator route or you need two superstars with a rotating cast of role players. The three star model is probably out, as it should be.

OKC is a bit ahead of the game -- it's now a game of fitting more talent into a defined payroll limit. That means you MUST find bargain salaries. The draft picks give you a way to try to get cheaper-salaried talent, but they can be a two-edged sword, because if you make a bad pick, it ends up wasting payroll on junk that gives you next to nothing (see Hardy, J and Prosper, O). You MUST be superior in scouting and evaluating vs other teams, not just out-negotiate for more picks.

And the massive 35% salaries (such as AD) are going to be really hard to justify on a talent-per-dollar basis, especially if the player isn't giving you 82 games of play at a high level. In light of the contract, besides AD (who would actually be good value if he could play 82 games, because he is very good at both ends of the floor), I wouldn't want to be stuck with Embiid, Tatum, Towns, George, Kawhi, Lavine, or Booker.

He was actually very good for New Orleans in first half of last season and often mentioned as a great trade deadline target for teams looking for (cheap) 3-D wings. Seems like they couldn't trade him, so they waived him (he wanted to go to a contender) and he signed with Cleveland, where his minutes and production drastically dropped.

I guess you can't have enough wing defenders. I really don't know much about him, except that he's been on a number of teams. Maybe he works out for them.

Kai Jones is working out for Miami.

Seems to be some confusion on whether or not Kai Jones is still eligible for a 2-way contract. Saw one writer that was steadfast saying he has to be apart of MIA's main roster and another that said he should still have 1 year left.

If I remember right he should qualify for 1 more year given he lost a season due to mental health issues. Interested to see that. He was a fun watch for 2 months.

The Denver Nuggets and forward Kessler Edwards have agreed to a deal, league sources told @hoopshype. Edwards averaged 4.2 points on 49.6% shooting from the field and 40.7% from 3-point range in 40 games, including 18 starts, for the Dallas Mavericks last season.

I think he's no longer 2-way eligible. One of his "years" gets overlooked because in it he logged no NBA minutes or stats (signed on a 10-day and then a last-day ROS contract).

I kind of like him on our roster with one big exception: Kyrie. But in a world where Kyrie won’t get back to his best level again for another two or three seasons we have one of the few rosters where Simons strengths would be needed and his weaknesses could be mitigated, if that makes sense to you. Will be interesting to see what they do with his expiring contract.

Brooklyn has remained active in trade conversations as the league's only team with remaining significant cap space, and takes Highsmith in with an unprotected second-rounder. Nets have also acquired two 1sts this offseason to add to the most 1st and 2nd round picks in the league.

The Miami Heat have traded Haywood Highsmith and a 2032 second-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets for a protected 2026 second-round pick, sources tell ESPN.

*********************
Nets send back a heavily protected second back that won't become real.  HIghsmith is making 5.6 million in his last year of his deal.   Sort of feels like Dallas isn't going to be able to move one of their deep bench pieces.  At least in a 1 to 1 deal.

Nets get a second round pick back.  BTW, I have no idea what the Nets are doing.   They are taking on salary and appear to be getting very little back.    I think they had the worst offseason next to NOLA.

Some people seem to think Austin Reeves will sign a deal for 30 mil per. That's insane to me.

Teams with the most games on NBC.
Why do the Mavs have the most?

Highsmith was offered to Phoenix for KD and other players, but Phoenix backed off the deal.
