Omax for Nets Second Round Pick #36?
Would rather try to move Hardy for a SRP but obviously getting a SRP for Hardy would imply he has value and well....
Down moving OMax for another pick at this point considering it seems that the plan if to keep PJ around for at least the time being which means there's essentially no way OMax is breaking through this rotation. Would be awesome if we somehow owned Philly's SRP or something silly like that.

Stein was floating the idea of Dallas buying a 2nd rounder last night.
If they do they'd be hardcapped at the 2nd apron.

Haha, that'd be great, wouldn't it.
Working through this roster construction, the Mavs currently have 14, leaving one open spot, that's already been earmarked for a Guard with the TPMLE.
Moving a player like Omax ($3,007,080) for a SRP that can be a Two-Way contract, frees up another roster spot to add a minimum and still have ~$2M cushion under A2.
If you believe the reports that Kai Jones is coming back, and he's not eligible for a Two-Way contract, then they'll have to make a move like this, or at least a player trade for a future pick, or a 2 for 1 trade that free's up enough space to add a minimum.
I think Brandon Williams is non-guaranteed, and eligible for another Two-Way, but I have a hard time seeing that being the move with their lack of guard depth already...

They lack roster space already. They have 14 under contract, with MLE guy filling 15.
Then they are supposedly adding Kai (16) and it's possible Exum (17) and the regular veteran enforcer/tone-setter 15th man (James Johnson, Boban, Markieff) is part of their thinking too (18). They liked Edwards (19).
Obviously they won't do all of those, but I can't imagine there's a SRP player to pick who they'd prefer over most of those other uses. (It's possible all the players they considered are already gone, too.)
The only way I'd see them wanting a SRP would be
1 it's available via cash or is the return via a trade away of some of their debris,
2 the player is open to taking a two-way deal and committed to work in GL on skills, and
3 the player is athletic needing better skills, rather than one in 2nd who has skills but lacks athleticism/size (because extra work doesn't make you taller etc).

Trading Martin + Hardy + Powell for Sexton
Omax "for" Minimum Kai Jones
Keeping the Taxpayer MLE.
Russell/Kyrie/Williams
Sexton/Christie/Thompson
Flagg/Marshall/Minimum
AD/Washington/Minimum
Lively/Gafford/Jones
That´s actually a pretty complete team that you can run back for 3-4 years.
Furthermore if you intend to contend with Kyrie, AD and Klay, you´ll need top replacements that can carry the load during the regular season, while still securing a top spot in the West.
In a perfect world you load management the old guys to be fresh and healthy come play-off time.
It´s the only feasible strategy to compete with an OKC.

I’d prioritize roster space for Exum and BWill.
Maybe Kai next, because he’s flashed potential, but not because they have a need at center. Lots of G-league time for him.
A nice 3-for-1 trade with Hardy, Omax, and Martin outgoing would open up the necessary spots. Even if the returning player doesn’t contribute.

According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line (Twitter link), the Hornets (either No. 33 or No. 34), Raptors (No. 39), Warriors (No. 41) and Thunder (No. 44) are also open to trading their second-round picks. ESPN identified Charlotte this morning as a team to monitor with one of its early second-rounders.
The Timberwolves (No. 31) are also fielding trade inquiries on the first pick of the second round, sources tell Fischer (Twitter link).

The Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to trade the No. 31 pick, per league sources. While not merely fielding calls, the team has actively engaged with several teams and is motivated to secure a strong return.

Maybe a dummy question, but...
Is there a dollar value for 2nd round picks? I know there is a salary schedule for FRPs, but if you wanted to trade a player for SRPs, is there a dollar value for the pick position that is used in the trade?

Don't think you can start Russell and Sexton. that might be the worst defensive backcourt in the NBA.

With the rumors of Minny shopping the first pick in the second round, I wonder if they are trying to get a future first? I guess this could be the benefit of waiting an extra day between rounds. It could create a longer bidding war. I wonder if some team would give up a future first? Probably not from the pick horders as they have had a pick already or multiple picks.
I am just curious what they wind up getting if they do move that pick.

nets trading pick 36 tonight to the Suns for two future seconds.
One of the issues for the Mavs, if they have any interest in getting a pick, is typically teams want future second(s). Dallas doesn't have but one. I think when you get in the mid 40's you may be able to buy a pick. I just don't think Dallas bothers though.
I don't know if it will mean anything, but the Suns have been aggressive. I thought they had a pretty good night last night.

Hardy now officially has a MUCH better chance of fighting his way to relevance here than O-Max. I'm still the largest landholder on O-Max island, but if they're truly keeping AD, Lively, Gafford, Flagg AND PJW...yeah, O-Max needs to be moved to a new team where he has a prayer of finding some kind of opportunity.
Hardy, on the other hand, might have hopes of being the team's best guard, as the roster stands. That's scary, but trading him might actually make the team worse, depending on how the rest of the summer shakes out. We assume other moves are coming, but right now he's probably wondering if he has a chance to start.

They'll be hardcapped at the 2nd apron almost no matter what they do at this point. I think using the tpMLE hardcaps them there, even. Kind of inevitable.

If nothing else, Hardy has the best chance of increasing his trade value in the near term. Unfortunately he's also probably the only guy that could be dumped somewhat easily if we needed a roster spot. At least of the popular names that people have floated around as dumps (Hardy, O'Max, Powell, Martin). That's not to say that I think he'll do it and I'd bet against.

No idea where Suns are pulling these picks from I though they were totally out, obviously I overlooked something. Seems to me they are looking for cheap players to fill the roster to duck under the 2nd apron
