2025 draft thread: THE MAVS SELECT COOPER FLAGG
(06-24-2025, 10:59 AM)SleepingHero Wrote: Interesting.

Mid 20s feels right, but Clayton was barely a 2nd rounder pre March madness.

He must have had pretty good workouts because he's actually moved up a bit since three weeks ago.

It´s Nico´s burner account.

If you convert each alphabetical letter in the name Harrison and in Raybo12 to numbers, and add them both up it´s 77.

maybe

I haven’t checked but if that’s true that is actually hilarious.

The Bulls are hoping to draft either Collin Murray-Boyles or Noa Essengue at No. 12 overall, per
@KCJHoop.

If both prospects are off the board, Derik Queen as a future replacement to Nikola Vucevic could become their fallback option.

What are the odds ESPN has figured out how to televise the draft? Would you say 0 percent. Just baseless interviews after each selection. trades not announced and players wearing hats for teams they will never be a part of? Are we going to get Kendrick Perkins and Stephen A? It should be that hard to make it entertaining tv.

Cool.  I guess it must make sense to let all the other 29 teams know exactly what your plans are.

...or, it's just a head fake.

I'd say what we're seeing is the lessening of value associated with late firsts, not learning Martin has a higher valuation than we thought (though I think that's probably true, too).

The type of guy going just outside of the lottery is the exact type of dude who might elect to collect more NIL money for a year as he attempts to get himself into the lottery range, and I remember seeing that several such players did withdraw from the draft not so long ago, which will pull the guy who'd usually go 22nd up to like 13th (ish)? I get why teams who didn't love any of the choices available at their pick would rather their guaranteed money (1st round money, different than 2nd round) go to a guy who was a known entity.

Watch the feed on mute, and LISTEN to the Shams stream, or possibly even the Ticket. It's a much more enjoyable experience.

The latest mock draft from the Ringer also has WCJ going to the Heat at #20

Joan Beringer, Maluach, Danny Wolf, and Cedric Coward are other names I’ve heard from sources regarding the Bulls, which should demonstrate how wide open this pick is viewed by sources as being across the league.I’ve also heard that they’ve looked into trade-ups as well as trade-down scenarios.

6'7.5 bare foot is legit 6'9 in the NBA.
7'0 wingspan, 8'11 standing reach, those are legitimately very good measurement for a hybrid forward (SF/PF).

Now think about this for a second: that is exactly the position we were supposed to draft at today… Crazy!

At pick 12 tonight it will be interesting who you would pick if the Mavs stayed at 12.

Probably Coward. It's a gamble of course because of his lack of college play, but he impressed everyone in his workout and interviews. Plus, he has about the sweetest jump shot I've seen - somewhat like Anthony Edwards or Aaron Nesmith.

I think if I am the Nets or Wizards that I would gamble on Ace Bailey. I think the Nets would have to move up, but they have the assets to do so. I understand the risk and the negatives are glaring, but both teams are at a place where they can gamble a little bit.

Wildcards for me are the Pelicans and the suns. You could tell me 10 different players they could draft and I would believe any of them. I could also see one of them make a selection outside the normal range you see on mock drafts.

Oklahoma City sells one pick.

Boston Celtics pick the Creighton center at the end of the first.

Another interesting guy is Nique Clifford. Good SG froom Colorado State. Had good workouts, but has a wide range in the first round.

The Pelicans are reportedly very serious about finding a way to acquire Ace Bailey, per
@Barlowe500

“Some believe Bailey could be hoping to find his shooting rhythm in a city known for jazz. But it’s not just Brooklyn. New Orleans has been linked to Bailey—the interest was first reported by Kevin O’Connor weeks ago—and it’s only intensified. I’ve been told the Pelicans are very, very serious about trying to move up and make Bailey their guy.”
